March 1st

Sometimes waking up early in the morning was difficult, but come March, waking up early just seemed like second nature.

"Aaron, Aaron, wake up," you tapped your boyfriend lightly to rouse him from his sleep, only to be met with a groan.

"Honey it's too early even for me," he tried to grab his pillow and put it over his head but you stopped him before he could go back to sleep.

"But Aaron, it's March!" your voice held a certain excitement to it, that kind of excitement you got around birthdays and anniversaries, special occasions to celebrate, and as a profiler, Aaron knew something must have been coming up.

"And what's special about March?" he asked in more of a curious fashion than anything.

That's when it hit you, you hadn't told him.

"Oh my Lord! I completely forgot to tell you,"

"Tell me about what?"

Now you had really gotten his attention and piqued his interest.

"March 21st is Naw-Ruz,"

The look he gave you clearly showed that you had lost him, but in a way where he felt bad. The Farsi rolled off your tongue easily and he could tell whatever it was, it was something special to you and he felt bad not having known about it earlier.

"But don't worry," you quickly chimed in. "It's completely my fault I should have remembered to tell you earlier, I just got excited," you chuckled.

"What's Naw-Ruz?" he asked. "The words sound familiar, I might have heard your parents speaking about it, but I don't think I know what it is,"

"It's the Persian new year," you explained. "We celebrate it during the spring equinox, kind of like a renewal of life,"

"So this is March 21st?" he asked and you nodded. "I'll be sure to mark the calendar then,"

"I was thinking that maybe we could celebrate it together?" you asked. "All of us, me you and Jack, there are a few traditional things I'd really love to share with you guys and I think my khaleh is throwing a party and it would really mean a lot to me if you would come,"

"I know work is really crazy but I promise I will try my absolute best to be here for it," he assured you. "If it's important to you then it's important to me,"

"Inshallah everything will run smoothly and if there's a case let's hope you get called on the 22nd," you chuckled and leaned down to press a soft kiss to his lips, properly greeting him for the morning. "I love you asalam,"

"I love you too,"

After getting out of bed and making breakfast you discussed a few of the different plans with Aaron until Jack came walking into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes and searching for you.
