A loud *clang* resonated throughout the junkyard waking you from your slumber. You groaned and rolled over, trying to ignore the ache in your muscles from sleeping on an uncomfortable sofa. After a taking a second to remember where you were, you jolted up and checked your surroundings. You were still alone. Blinking the sleep out of your eyes, you stood up and stretched hearing your bones click back into their appropriate places. You let out a yawn and strolled over to the exit of your makeshift bedroom. You stepped out, the rising sun blinding you making you groan once more. Once your eyes adjusted you looked around trying to place the bugatti you met the night before. A frown made its way onto your face, he was gone.
Deep down you knew he probably wouldn't have been here when you woke up, but there was still a part of you that had hope he'd stay a little longer. A sigh escaped your lips, accepting the fact that you were really alone once again, you started heading back in when the rev of an engine caught your attention. You spun around so fast you thought you'd give yourself whiplash, you gave a relieved smile as you saw the very same blue bugatti slowly rolling towards you. You took a few steps towards him to meet him halfway and when he was close enough he started to transform. "I thought you'd left" you spoke, raising your head to look at him. He nodded "I had considered it, however evaluating our situations, I came to the conclusion it would be wiser if we were to...work together" he spoke kneeling down so he was closer to your height. You gave him a confused expression, "how so?"
"We are both wanted by cemetary wind, would it not make sense to help each other out?" He asks looking out towards the city. You thought it over for a second, he had a point, as a human you had access to places he didn't, and being a giant samurai robot, if you did get into trouble with the feds, he'd probably be able to get you both out of it. You smirked slightly, "alright, you got a deal" you said holding your hand out for him to shake. He looked at your outstretched hand and hesitated for a second, then nodded while reaching down and using his Index finger and thumb to shake your hand. After our deal was made, drift decided to scout the area to make sure cemtary wind wasn't patrolling too close. While he was out i realised...i. was. starving. I only had a few energy bars in my bag but i was going to save them for when i really needed it. So now im walking the streets of atlanta looking for a cheap place to get some actual food. I have about $20 in cash on me right now so i had to spend it wisely. Being out in the open during the day wasn't my smartest move but neither is starving to death. It was just a quick trip to the store and back, what could go wrong.
I made it to a convenience store which looked decent enough to get some food. I just grabbed some sandwiches, a few more water bottles and some chocolate because I fancied some. The total came to about $9.53. Once I bought what I needed I started heading back, sticking to the back roads where there's less people. Keeping an eye on the road I wasnt watching where I was walking and when I was about to take a left, my shoulder collided with something solid. It knocked me back slightly, but luckily I managed to catch myself before I fell over. I looked up to see a buff guy towering over me, hot coffee stained down his shirt and a pissed off look on his face.
I gulped, stepping back slightly, "damn, sorry I wasn't watching where I was going" i apologised, hoping he'd be cool about it and let it go. Obviously he didn't, he threw his empty cup to the ground and balled his hands into fists, "you fucking brat watch where you're going, now my shirt is stained!" He yelled stepping closer. I moved with him, trying to keep some distance between us, "look I'm sorry about your shirt, but I can't do anything about it now so can't we just let it go?" I asked trying to calm him down. "Let it go, easy for you to say, you didn't get hot coffee thrown all over you!" I looked around in hopes of getting someones attention, there wasn't many people around and the ones that were nearby just glanced over and carried on walking. 'Seriously, no ones gonna help?' I thought, my attention set back on the angry guy. He kept walking towards me to the point i had backed up so far I was almost up against a wall. "You're gonna pay for what you did" he snarls. I started to panic, 'I haven't even got any money' I mentally screamed, realising he can't read my mind I speak up, "I-I don't have the money to buy you a new shirt, but I can replace the coffee if you want" I try bargaining my way out. A menacing grin made its way onto his face and a feeling of dread began to rise in my gut. "Oh I don't want your money..." he laughed, "you can pay me back in a different way" he finished, roughly grabbing onto my wrist and pulling me towards him. I tried pulling away but him being almost twice my size didn't give me much of an advantage. So I thought of a better idea. I lifted my leg and swung it as hard as I could and kicked him right where the sun doesn't shine. His whole body stiffened and his grip on my wrist loosened enough for me to escape. He reeled over, holding his crotch with one hand while using the other to lean on the wall for support. I took a few more steps backwards, there now being a few meters between us. "You-you brat...you're gonna...pay for that" he growled, looking over in my direction. 'Yep time to leave' I thought, getting ready to run. He recovered a lot faster than I thought he would and started bounding over to me, rage radiating off of him. I didn't hesitate to take off running, in his condition it shouldn't take long to out run him.
Turns out that wasnt necessary as the familiar rev of an engine erupted from a nearby alley. You stopped in your tracks as drift emerged from the alley you were about to pass and skidded to a stop infront of you. His door opened and you didn't hesitate to climb inside. The rage filled beast of a man who was chasing you getting ever closer. The door slammed shut behind you and he drove off into the road forcing a car to swerve to avoid us and almost hit the guy. Him, unfortunately, managing to avoid being smushed into the wall. His glare never leaving the bugatti as we quickly drove away.
I let out a sigh of relief as we made our way through the city streets. "Thanks for the save, guess I owe you two favours now" I say letting out a small laugh. He didn't respond. "You alright?" I asked getting slightly worried. Still nothing 'oh he's definitely pissed' I thought, sinking into the seat slightly. A few more minutes of silent driving went by, the atmosphere becoming tenser as each second passed. "What were you thinking" he suddenly speaks startling me slightly. "I-" he didn't give me chance to respond. "You could have been seriously hurt, who knows what could have happened" he starts, "yeah but i-" he cuts me off again, "you shouldn't have left the junkyard alone, what if cemetary wind had found you, who knows what those monsters would have done to you if they'd managed to grab you" he rants, the guilt building with each word. I waited for a second to make sure he was finished before speaking, "I know I made a stupid move but I was starving, I didn't think a quick trip to the store would turn into...well that" I tried defending myself. Then realisation struck me like a knife to the heart, my food...was in the bag...where's the bag..."motherfucker!" I yelled slamming my head against my headrest. "Excuse me?" Drift responds, confused about my sudden outburst. "My food, I must have dropped the bag when that guy grabbed me" I whined placing my hands on my face in frustration. The sudden jerk of drift hitting the breaks sent me lurching forward almost making me smack my head into the dashboard.
"Dude! A little warning next time!" I shout, quickly readjusting myself in the seat and deciding to actually put my seatbelt on this time. "Did you say...he touched you?" He says, a menacing tone lacing his words. "Yeah...he grabbed my arm...are you ok?" I whisper the last part slightly scared of the change in atmosphere. Some cars behind beeped their horns making me jump slightly, now realising we stopped in the middle of a busy road, "Drift we gotta move, you're blocking the road" i add, trying to get some sort of movement from the robot. "I will kill him for you" he suddenly says, finally starting his engine and driving again. It took me a moment to process his words, "as much as I'd enjoy you doing that, I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to, even if he is a piece of trash" I speak slowly, hoping he understands he can't go around killing humans. "Besides, I got him back and kicked him in the balls, hopefully he'll be out of action for a while" I say relaxing in my seat. "I would still prefer to see him dead" he adds, the deadly aura slowly dissipating. "Yeah you and me both but unfortunately we gotta lay low and killing someone isn't exactly gonna help our situation, besides...aren't you supposed to be on the good team?" I ask slightly amused by his reaction. "I'd be doing the planet a favour by eradicating scum like him" he replies. "I couldn't agree more" I say letting a laugh slip out.
It didn't take much longer to get back to the junkyard, drift taking a more complex route to make sure we weren't followed. Once we were back the rest of the day went by without much more fuss. I did eventually manage to get some food which should keep me going for a couple of days. We both agreed we should probably move on from the junkyard sooner rather than later, best to not stay in the same place too long incase cemetary wind came knocking. So it was decided, we'd stay a day or two to make sure we had a decent enough plan and then we'd hit the open road, hoping to somehow run into some other autobots.
So that's the 3rd chapter done, hope you enjoyed
I'm kind of just filling in the time right now with small stuff like this until I get the good stuff all planned out so don't worry, it should get better soon
Anyway, feel free to leave feedback and I'll see you when I next update.
