"will you tell me what's going on?" Ashton said in such a gentle tone it was practically a whisper. I sighed i caught my breath finally and just felt numb about this situation again.
"you know how josh left in such a hurry and hadn't been texting or calling" he nodded one hand on the wheel the other intertwined with mine he gave it a slight squeeze.
"well he slept with my ex they went on a trip together he was using him as a sugar daddy my ex left him stranded in some place with no car or anything so he asked me to come get him" i said looking out to the road at least i live in the mountains and the leaves are changing. I just can't believe he would do this to me after everything Sam did after every time i would come into work beat to help, I would call josh after what sam would call a "mishap" I thought he was my friend
"so why are you helping him" his voice was lower is he mad? i haven't heard him mad.
"he's my-" i stopped
"baby you do so much for everyone else at your own expense i've learned that in the short time i've known you...."
"i know i do but i've been in his situation almost exactly i have to help him...this last time"
He didn't say anything after that I feel nothing i can barley feel his hand on mine why am i taking this so hard it's starting to make me feel stupid. We pulled into a gated community filled to the brim with huge mansions, if my grandma were with me she would say something about how close the houses are for how much they pay for these. We were winding through for a while until the houses became more scarce then we pulled up to a mansion with no houses next to it a fountain of a fish out front and his car. Oh god am i walking into a trap i guess i'm glad i didn't go alone.
"you have arrived" the google maps said. Ashton put the car in park and turned to me
"you don't have to do this" he said breaking our silence. Him saying that made me realize i was frozen staring at Sams car seeing it made me sick.
"i'm already here" he started saying something but i got out of the car and closed the door. Was that a little rude maybe but he knows i-
I looked in a window and i saw him walk past oh god it was a trap i texted josh
"i'm here"
Sam is yelling i can tell he's yelling at josh i have to help him. I started walking to the door keeping my eye on the window. When he looked out it and down at me his eyes practically burned holes through mine. He grew a smile i recognize the smile he gave me it was the type of smile i'd imagine a shark gives its pray before it eats them he bolted from the window and the front door opened to josh with his bags and dried tear marks on his face.
"he's coming down we need to get out of here" i yelled to him and ran back to the car josh finally got up to it and Sam was running towards us
"What ceil you don't want a reunion!?" he yelled while darting twords us
i got in the car josh was chucking his bags in he was literally closing the door and sam caught up to us he was pulling on it thank god mine was locked
"ashton drive!" i yelled his eyes were darting everywhere to me, sam, josh. Josh finally got the door closed and ashton pealed out the sound of his tires screeching filled my ears it was the only thing i could hear.

silence i usually love it but silence is usually comfortable this silence is like sitting on a chair made of nails.
"thank you" josh said pulling my thought back into the car
"drive to his house please" i said to Ashton looking out to the road and not at him. I saw him look over to me in the corner of my eye. He looked back out to the road grabbing my hand tightly and stroking my thumb lightly with his.
"come on c please don't ignore me i know what i did was-" josh started
"when we get to your house i need to get my stuff and then we're leaving" i said no emotion in my voice nothing left of me
"okay.." he said

we pulled up into Josh's driveway Ashton and i got out of the car immediately it felt like josh was taking his sweet ass time. I went straight in packing all my things in the guest room.
"babe maybe you should take it slow talk to him?" he said standing in the doorway
"i appreciate everything you're doing for me right now but i might beat his ass if i have to be around him more than five minutes" i responded throwing all my shit into my bags and going through my drawers.
"that's valid sweets" he walked up to me putting a hand on my shoulder that small act and his sweet smile almost made me break i have to hold out till i'm alone
"thank you babe let's go" he nodded and we walked out
"C come on" josh tried i looked right through him
"it's not that big a deal i just needed money" i stopped for a second
"it's not worth it right now" Ashton mumbled and grabbed my shoulders moving me. He was right it's not but i want to scream at josh so bad i just have to make it out of here.
"C you don't understand please hear me out" i put my bag in the car by my feet and closed the door. josh is still talking as we pull away following the car. as soon as we're out of the neighborhood ash slams the gas to get us out as fast as we can. I leaned against his arm and held his hand while cuddling his arm. i need to break so bad i just can't let him see.

we got to my house he helped me inside.
"what do you need baby? are you hungry?"
starving
"no i'm okay"
"how about you hangout here i'll go pick up dinner stop at my house really quick and we have a nice night in?"
"dinner?" i looked outside the sun was going down
"shit this has been my whole day"
"let's end this day on a good note baby" he said with a smile and he placed a hand on my cheek lightly his hand was calloused but so soft.
"yeah that's perfect thank you" i pulled up the best smile i could
"okay sweets i'll be back i- you want anything specific?" he asked
"n-no whatever you want is perfect" i stood up and kissed him i want him to stay but i need him to leave.
"lock the door i'll be back" he said
"be safe" i responded watching him leave
