Violet stood in front of the tall, glass windows of his apartment. He watched as people walked by and went about their day.

This was how he felt normal.

This is what he did everyday he came back from working with H.Y.D.R.A, and what he would continue to do until the horrors went away.

Until the nightmares stopped waking him from his sleep and until he could finally stop checking each and every lock on any door he had.

He had seen people tortured, yes. What he hadn't seen was how easily their minds could be played with. How H.Y.D.R.A had been able to create such a device, he would never know.

All that he knew is that it had been used on Y/N. That she had been locked in a metal cage of sorts and her mind had been tampered with.

It had been tampered with since the day she was born, but that wasn't because of the machine, still it was of H.Y.D.R.A's doings.

They had shown him the security footage on his first day.

He has almost run then.

Left the entire mission behind.

They had then offered him a higher price, one he couldn't turn down if he was looking to get an office that wasn't currently underneath a restaurant/café.

They had heard of the Winter Soldiers return to the Stark tower. As much as the Avengers had tried to hide it, H.Y.D.R.A knew almost everything.

Violet picked up his new leather briefcase that he left at the front table everyday.

He left his apartment, locking it behind him, and then heading towards the new car that he had been awarded with after accepting the job.

He arrived at the base. Taking deep breaths before getting out of his car to start again today. To see if today he was useful enough to move to the next stage of the plan.

To be more successful then Agent A ever was.

"Professor Violet," Zola began as he greeted him by the elevator in the underground parking garage.

This is how he was greeted every day.

He only nodded back.

As they stepped into the elevator Zola informed him of everything they would be covering today, "Today will be different," he began, "Y/N is back. She was spotted on route towards Stark tower."

Violet turned towards him, "So what does this mean?"

"It means, the plan is going to be in motion. I would like for you to reach out to all the members and for them to be informed. I would like this mission to be completed with flying colours."

That was a phrase he heard a lot "be completed with flying colours." he wasn't sure if it was just because he wanted to be different or if it had some other meaning so, he nodded once more.

That was his way of communication. Talk too much and people don't trust you, don't talk enough and people become suspicious. If you give acknowledgment instead of your own opinion in this place you seem to do just fine.

He got out of the elevator at the 6th floor and made his way to the small office he had been given to make his calls.

As he walked there he felt very out of place, it was a common feeling.

The people working this project had been doing this for longer then him and have already adapted to the questionable ways that they do things and yet he still had not.

He found his seat and picked up the phone to make the calls. After finishing with those calls he heard his name over the announcement system for him to head to Lab 2.

He stood up, fixed his suit and made his way to the second floor.

He stopped the elevator for a second. Thinking of what he was getting himself into. He had been happy at the beginning of this project until his fears got in the way.

He had become lost in thought for a few seconds before he realized he needed to get to the lab. The elevator continued and so he brought himself to that place in his mind where he was calm and collected.

That was what you needed to be when you were invited to the lab. You never knew what was next, you never knew what new experiment was in play.

"Ah, Violet you've finally decided to join us." Zola said from below.

The professor made his way down the metal staircase onto the white tiled flooring.

"I though the plan was in motion, what other experiments need to be tested?" he replied.

"This is no experiment, this," he gestured to a man dressed in black, "is Augustus Gray. He will be helping us with this mission."

Violet nodded for him to continue.

"Once we successfully catch the Winter Soldier, he will go in his place."

The father.

It was a smart plan, brilliant even.

Only, how could he do that to his own daughter. There's always a certain line people have when it comes to family, but bringing them to someone who wants to kill them seems like a stretch.

Did he have other motives?

Is he playing both sides?

It's a weakness that the objective of this mission is to capture his daughter. It would make sense if he was trying to keep her safe by playing the enemies team.

Those were thoughts that Violet often thought, he tried to get into the minds of those he worked with. What their ulterior motives were.

"Gray has been working with us for a very long time." Zola assured him as though he had read his thoughts, "This mission has been going since the day Y/N was born. You are just the missing stone in the gauntlet."

Gray spoke before Violet could, "I know you may question where my loyalty lies, but I can assure you that I am someone you can trust. I will complete this mission if it's the last thing I do."

"It's not me you need to convince Mr. Gray." was all Violet replied with.

"Professor, I'm going to need you to become trusted by Stark or the very least get a job at the tower. I need two people on the inside. I'm not taking any chances."

He nodded.

"Alright then this meeting is finished, both should start packing you're leaving tomorrow. Y/N shouldn't get comfortable to the Winter Soldier so his change in behaviour is unnoticed. That's all."

They all took their leave each going in their own directions. Violet headed back to his office, sitting back down in the chair aimlessly trying to find things to pass the time before he arrived back home.

This could take months to get a job at the tower and even longer to gain his trust.

They'd background check him and watch him closely for months before he would finally even be in the running to be trusted to bring Tony Stark a coffee much less the keys to his office and all his plans.

Did Zola not trust Gray enough to only need him? It didn't make sense for them to need two people doing this job there were already people for H.Y.D.R.A working there already.

It was obvious Gray wasn't trusted completely, but then again why was he? He hadn't done anything chivalrous enough to be trusted. It's weird that only a few weeks ago he had been working in his office like he did always and now, he's being put on a high class mission.

It didn't make sense to him.

That night as he drove home he thought of everything he needed to pack, every gadget that he would need.

He would be provided with special ear pieces and equipment to help him through the days, to send information back to Zola without being intercepted.

Now, as he lay in bed all he could do was wait.
