Chapter 14 - school

My first day back at school is today and I'm far from prepared. I woke up an hour late, I had half hour to get ready.
It's the start of year 11 and I'm not looking forward to it.

"Mum!!" I yelled throughout the house.

"What?!?" She yelled back almost instantaneously.

"Can you please put 2 pieces of toast on for me?!"

"Okay!!"

I put my long brown hair in a messy bun - like usual - and pulled out a few strands at the front. Applied mascara to my already dark lashes and put gloss on my full light peachy lips.

I quickly walked from my bathroom to my desk to put 5 school books in my bag and the essentials - pencil case, lunch money etc.

I quickly ran down stairs to the kitchen, nearly tripping on the way. Grabbed my buttered toast off mum and ran out the door after saying goodbye and kissing her on the cheek.

We don't live far from the school, a few blocks or so. I speed walk and I finally reach the school as soon as the bell rings to go to first period.
I speed through the doors and towards my locker to grab my Chemistry and English books but I felt myself falling to the ground with another person, my shoulder smacked against the ground with a massive thud and I landed on somebody. I winced at the pain in my shoulder and looked down to see who it is I ran into, it's Reece Myer the schools most hottest guy and bad boy. He's named as the hottest guy in school and so happens to be in my year, he is pretty hot; brown hair, blue eyes, palish skin, fit and has a smile had could melt your insides.

"Are you just going to keep staring at me or are you going to let me get up?" He said with a grin.

"Oh shit sorry, I didn't umm.." I quickly got off him and luckily nothing fell out of my bag.

"Thanks. Your Kat right?" He asks.

"Ahh yeah, I've umm I've got to go, see you around." I quickly walked away hoping to get to class on time.

After 2 periods and people giving me sympathy for the accident recess finally arrived and I went and sat at the usual table. A few minutes later Steph and Liv arrive and then Sarah.

"Hey why'd you come so late this morning?" Steph asks.

"I woke up too late."

"Omg guys did you hear that Sabrina got knocked up in the holidays? She's like the nerd of the school, crazy right? I wonder what she's going to do with the baby." Sarah said, she's the gossiper in the group.

"I don't know, she might get an abortion or she'll have it." Liv says.

"Where'd you hear this?" I ask.

"In Maths, Piper her bestie was talking about it and I overheard." Sarah says.

"No I spoke to her today and she seemed fine." Steph said.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned around to see who it was, Reece Myer. The girls went silent.
"Hey Kat, I believe this is yours." He handed me my phone.

"Uhh yeah, I didn't even notice that I dropped it. Umm where did you find it?"

"When you put me on my ass this morning it must've fell out of your pocket and I couldn't give it back before you ran away." He grinned.

"Umm uhh yeah thanks." I said nervously.

"Well I've got to run, see you around." He smiled and walked off.

"What was all that about?" Steph asked.

"Did you not just hear the conversation?" I pointed out sarcastically.

"Yeah but you put him on his ass?" She says.

"This morning I was running through the halls and I accidentally ran into him." I said as a matter of fact and turned red at the memory.

"Aww you too would look cute together. You should try and tap that." Sarah says and laughs.

"I don't think so." I say.

"He's looking at you, you know." Liv says.

I turn around and see him staring at me, his black jacket and shorts make him look ten times more sexier. He's usually an asshole to everybody, his dad died last year so that's why. People underestimate him when it comes to academics.

"Yeah whatever. Have you guys had people come up to you and say sorry or some shit like that?" I ask all of them.

"Yeah, me and sympathy don't go very well together." Steph says.

"Yeah, people coming up to me and hugging me and it's just like please leave me alone to grieve." Liv says.

"People have put flowers and teddy bears all over her locker, and candles, it's sweet but every time I look at it, it makes me sad." Sarah says.

"Have you guys seen Blake?" I ask.

"Yeah, he's in the library studying for something. I checked in on him before, he seems fine but he's angry and gets easily annoyed."

"Okay, I'm going to go and check on him. I haven't seen him since the funeral. See you guys in drama." I get up and walk in the direction of the library, people are looking at me with sad eyes and I'm getting pissed off. I quickly make it too the library and I see Blake sitting at one of the tables with a whole sea of books surrounding him.

"Hey dude." I say and he grunts and looks up.

"Hey Kat. Sit down if you like."

I sat down on the opposite side of the table.

"What do you want?" He snaps.

"Hey don't get mad at me because I care about you and want to see how you're doing." I snap back.

"You're right sorry. It's just I've got all this homework to do." He says.

"Already? Wow that was fast."

"Yeah stupid Math teacher said that my grades need to improve from last year otherwise I get kicked off the football team. So." He motioned at the books and paper.

"If you really need help I'm sure I can Tudor you." I say.

"I think I'll be alright for now. Thanks anyway." He says.

"How are you besides this?" I ask.

"I'm fine." He answer is enough to make me believe he's not.

"No your not. It's okay to not be okay, you lost her and so did I, so did Steph, Liv and Sarah, so did everybody else. All I'm saying is don't get yourself into bad habits. I'm watching you." I say seriously.

"I'll be fine Kat, thanks for caring and stuff but I've got to get back to this, so I'll see you around."

"Yeah okay, I'll see you around." I got up and walked out the library to third period. Math.
