Jeongguk stood there, frozen, gazed down at his ex-lover who laid there in front of him in the cold pavement. The breaths he let out manifested themselves in visible frozen air, emitting as if smoke in the atmosphere, evidence of the outdoor temperature that only continued to lower as the days went on."Why... Why are you out here? And stalking me, of all things?" he said in a faint voice. Because truthfully when he had suspected there was an odd man out there following him, he didn't quite imagine it would be Lee Seojun, of all people.
"I wasn't stalking you.." The man stood from the concrete pavement with a grunt and wiped at his cheek, "I was just making sure you were safe."
"Why wouldn't I be? And why the fuck do you care?"
Jeongguk's heart rate was speeding. Turns out running into an ex when you least expect it does that to a person. He felt that his face was hot. Or cold. Yet either way he knew he appeared flushed at the skin, but whether or not that was because of the cold or his feelings, he wouldn't bother to try and figure out.
Seojun sighed softly, a frustrated breath, followed by a twitch of his lips. "I see you're still hostile towards me... And, honestly, I don't blame you." He stuffed his hands into his pockets and looked up at the boy. "But, Ggukie, you—"
"Don't call me that."
"Jeongguk," he corrected himself, then allowed a momentary pause before he continued to speak. "You... You can't avoid me forever. I'd still very much like to speak with you, just for a little while. And then, I promise, I'll leave you alone."
The boy was quick in his response. "There's nothing to talk about."
"There is." Seojun took a step closer. "Please."
Jeongguk gazed at the man's serious face, a hollow feeling growing within the depths of his chest. The two were silent until they heard a voice gasp out breathlessly from behind them.
"What the fuck, Jeongguk, you can't just run off and—" Jimin stopped mid-sentence as soon as he saw who it was that stood in front of his best friend. "What-... Now, what on earth is going on here...?"
"Jimin," Jeongguk spoke up suddenly, his gaze remained fixated on the very man that had broken his heart. "Head on home. I'll call you later tonight."

The moon seemed much higher tonight, somehow. Clouds fogged over from time to time, shielding it from view. Jeongguk walked behind shoulders he was used to seeing and yet, seemed particularly foreign to him now.
"Have you been well?" Seojun's voice, even, was a sound he used to find comfort in. Yet, much has changed since then, it seemed.
"I'd rather not do small talk with you," the boy answered in blunt honesty, and he heard the man ahead of him give out a soft laugh. Jeongguk's lips pursed out, unamused. "What's so funny?"
