Past the distant sounds of tires against the road, away from the night life crowd, Jeongguk now stood beside the man of many riddles.

That being Taehyung, who was now pushing his key into the front door, snapping it to the side until it swung open. The smaller boy followed behind him as they stepped in, quietly slipped his shoes off and placed them neatly to the floor.

"May I, uhm..." He pushed the words out, his voice heavy in his throat. "May I use your shower..?"

Taehyung made no effort to acknowledge his question, but rather waved a hand dismissively before stepping down the long hall to the living room. Jeongguk timidly let his feet guide him inside the apartment, a place he'd been in much too many times by now. He knew already where the extra towels were, where to find ingredients in the kitchen. Where most vital things were stored. He knew it all.

So he figured he was free to make himself at home for now, and discreetly set off toward the bathroom. Truthfully his racing heartbeat couldn't keep up with the tightness in his chest. It seemed the cooling breeze from up at the rooftop remained at his skin, his rosy cheeks warm from it still, and a swarm of perplexing emotions washed right down to the pit of his stomach.

And yet, as he got undressed beside the running shower, all he could think about was the forlorn look over Taehyung's—over V's face, back at the rooftop, where the city's luster pushed reflection into those gloomy eyes.

V, who was hard to read. Who hid things from him, from everyone.

V, who shared the body with the man he loved. Who shared his memories, his pain, his heartbeat. His blood.

Jeongguk splashed cold water over his face, rubbed the droplets into his skin. He couldn't stop thinking about it. About his words back there.

"We're alike, you and I."

He gulped down his saliva, a shuddering over his fingers. His head keeled forward, allowed the running water to splash down his entire body.

In what ways could he and V possibly be alike?

Jeongguk had pretended he didn't know. Pretended there couldn't be even a remotely plausible similarity. But he knew. Knew their similarities, as much as he knew their differences. It sunk down into him, cut down his consciousness so deep he could hardly stand there any longer and lie to himself.

Because, yes, he wasn't completely foolish. He knew the alter was merely misunderstood. A survivor, where others were simply living in passive fragments of happiness they could find.

A curt sniffle left him, while he immediately regretted a cold shower under this kind of weather. Regardless, he shut the water off and began to pat himself dry with an extra towel he had borrowed. His feet slid into the loaned slippers, toes wriggling into its comfort, and he left the bathroom's humidity to step back into the cool apartment.
