Jeongguk's feet made careful steps across concrete pavement. Soft warm lighting from the street lights illuminated his path under the ink black sky, where grey skies adorned it in simple spotting, the sounds of the city tame due to the tranquil hour the boy roamed in.It was late. Nearing midnight, to be precise. Certainly a time frame in which Jeongguk would usually already be in bed after a bath, cuddled up in blankets and watching a film to help him fall asleep. But today in particular, he was treading the night through quiet streets, a reminisce of the exact pathing he remembered plunging through, that night he'd found Seojun cheating on him.
He remembered every emotion from back then. How his heart had been speeding at dangerous miles per hour. How he had uttered curse words he'd never told anyone in such vile tones. How he hadn't paid much attention to where he was headed, and as a result ended up at the outskirts of the large park near his neighborhood.
That was where he had met Taehyung.
Which was why the boy knew; no doubt in his heart, what the man had meant in his message. Jeongguk had woken up from a nap earlier in the day, as the sun was settling down the horizon, and saw a message from Taehyung that read:
'meet me at the place i first saw you.'
It was a vague text, one with little context. At least that's what he had thought at first. Because, really, he had many questions. Like, what for? or perhaps, at what time?
But he didn't ask them. Because it had taken him only about five seconds before he just understood. Understood what the man had meant—the when and where.
So right now, Jeongguk was searching for the 'why'. Why Kim Taehyung had asked to meet up with him so late into the night at a familiar place. He supposed he'd find out when he got there.
And upon arrival, he stood beside the lamp post he remembered was near him when he had lowered himself to the ground and cried over an ex lover; then his gaze found the man he was in love with.
Taehyung was on the grass again, except this time he properly had shoes on. No phone blasting music beside him, and no leather jacket. He still wore black ripped jeans despite the chilly weather, and his hair had grown since that night.
The man was quick to take notice of Jeongguk's arrival, and a gentle smile curled upon his lips. "You made it." His voice was as deep as back then, and upon the realization Jeongguk couldn't help but smile back.
"Yeah.." he said in a soft voice.
"I'm surprised you knew what I meant in my message." Taehyung stepped past the grass area and walked through the concrete path to reach where the younger stood.
