"Are you ready?" Carolyn asked

"I am" Meredith nodded

The whole family gathered in the kitchen. Meredith wanted to cut her hair short, very short so she wouldn't have to deal with long strands of hair that are falling out

Derek was holding her hand as Amelia and Mark vere trying to make it less tensed

"Okay, here we go" Carolyn looked into Meredith's eyes and all she could see was fear. She desperately wanted to hug the girl but she had to get over this first.

It didn't take very long before they were done. Meredith had held her eyes closed the whole time as she leaned into Derek's comforting touch

"Mer, you can open your eyes" He softly said as he squeezed her hands

"Oh-" Meredith gasped as she opened her eyes and looked at herself in the mirror. With one hair traveling to her hair, the other's grip on Derek's hand only became tighter, at least as tight as possible for the exhausted girl

"Thank you" She whispered as she looked at Carolyn, or tried to because making eye contact made it feel real

"Mer, you are rocking this!" Mark tried to cheer her up

"Thanks Mark" She breathed

"You look like a rockstar!" Amelia smiled at her best friend

"Should I play the drums?" She giggled slightly

"You should be the lead singer!" Derek kissed her temple

"Meredith, you look really good" Christopher rubbed her back

"I'm gonna be bald soon anyways" She sighed

"Even bald you are the most beautiful person on earth" Derek whispered

"I-I think I need a nap" She sighed

"Want me to come with you?" Derek offered

"You sure?" Meredith frowned

"Of course Meredith" He smiled and grabbed her hand before the he pulled her on her feet and brought her to the couch

"Do- You think-" Meredith stuttered

"I really like your hair. Of course I prefer it long but thats because of the circumstances, I understand Mer" He explained to her "We're all here for you" He kissed the tip of her nose

"Thanks" She whispered

"Are you tired?" He asked her

"The adrenalin is definitely messing with me. I'm exhausted" She sighed

"Just close your eyes" Derek said as he pulled her against his chest and his fingers brushed over her head

...

"She seems really exhausted" Carolyn frowned slightly "She's been asleep for four hours"

"Her vitals are okay, a bit low but okay" Christopher softly smiled "Let's go join them" He said as he grabbed his wife's hand and walked her over to the couch

"Hi mom" Amelia whispered and cuddled into her mother's body in a try to find some comfort

"Hi baby" Carolyn kissed Amelia's head and wrapped her arms tightly around the teenage girl

The family stayed like that for a while. They had turned on the tv as it was playing very quiet in the background until Meredith started whimpering

Carolyn quickly kneeled down next to Meredith and placed her hand down on Meredith's forehead kn case she had a fever

"Mom?" She muttered

"Shh, I'm here" Carolyn whispered as Christopher started checking her out

"Mom, it hurts" She cried out

"Shh, we got you" Carolyn softly said as she shared a worried expression with her husband

"Meredith, I'm gonna administer pain meds, okay?" Christopher asked and she nodded slightly

"Everything hurts" She whimpered again

"Shh, this will help" Christopher injected the meds and then grabbed her hand to hold it as Derek held the other one

"I'll carry her upstairs" Christopher nodded and lifted her in his arms, Derek following them upstairs

"Mom, why did she call you mom? Is she okay?" Amelia gasped

"She's just confused Amy. She's had chemo again recently, that combined with the meds she's on now.. She's having a hard time" Carolyn rubbed Amelia's back

"I hate school without Meredith" Amelia sighed

"It will be okay" Carolyn hugged Amelia

"There's a party next week but it feels so wrong to go" Amelia told her mom

"It's not wrong for you to enjoy, honey. I'm sure Meredith would be happy for you" Carolyn kissed Amelia's forehead "Do you wanna ocle with me to check on Mer?"

"Yeah" Amelia smiled and followed Carolyn

"I'm coming too!" Mark laughed and followed them upstairs

They heard Meredith's soft whimpers the further they walked in the hallway

"It will get better Mer" Derek whispered as he brushed his hand over Meredith's head

"It burns" She complained

"Dad?" Derek looked up at his dead

"That's the chemo.. Everyone reacts differently" Christopher sighed and saw Carolyn, Amelia and Mark standing at the door "Carolyn, can you get her a wet washcloth"

Carolyn nodded and went to the bathroom

"Hey Mer, it will be okay" Amelia whispered as she sat down on the bed

"Here honey" Carolyn wiped the sweat from Meredith's face as the teenage girl kept clutching her stomach "I'll go get you some ginger ale, it might help" Carolyn said but Mark interrupted

"I'll go get it" He smiled

"Thanks Mark" Carolyn smiled

"Derek" Meredith whimpered as she buried herself into Derek's body as her eyes started to slowly droop

"Try to sleep a bit" Derek whispered

"Hurts" She groaned as pain ripped through her whole body

"Here Mer" Mark walked in with some ginger ale

She slowly took some sips before her eyes closed and she fell asleep
