"Hey honey, did you sleep well?" Carolyn asked as she woke up Meredith

"Yeah" She smiled but groaned as she tried to move

"What's wrong?" Carolyn frowned

"Just a bruise on my back" She sighed

"Can I see?" Carolyn gently asked and Meredith nodded. Carolyn helped the teenage girl to sit up and lifted the sweater she was wearing "Oh, Meredith" Carolyn sighed "It's a big bruise"

"I thought so" Meredith sighed

"Do you think you can get up?" Carolyn asked and Meredith nodded. The fact was, the teenage girl had a hard time keeping herself on her feet but found support in leaning onto Carolyn

Mark carried Meredith down the stairs and placed her down on the couch "hey, you wanna watch a movie?" He suggested

"Sounds perfect to me" She smiled softly

"We'll join!" Amelia and Derek yelled as they ran in and took a seat on the couch. Derek pulled Meredith in his arms and let her rest her head on his chest

"I hate this" She muttered "I wanna hang out"

"I know you do" He whispered and his hand went over her very short hair which was only visible in spots anymore

"Thanks for sticking around" She told him

"Thanks for letting us" He held her close in his arms as they started watching the movie

...

Hours later they went to the hospital and got Meredith checked in again. She was in her room, laying in bed with Derek and Amy while Mark was a mission to find some snacks to eat during the movie

Christopher had excused himself as he wanted to talk to Arizona

"Hi" Arizona sighed as she was sitting down in the conference room

"Hey" he sighed and took a seat

"How was she at home?" Arizona asked

"Yesterday she was in a lot of pain but today she seemed to be doing much better" Christopher said with a smile

"How were her vitals?" Arizona asked

"Low.. I'm scared she'll need to go into isolation soon" Christopher sighed "She doesn't deserve any of this"

"I know.. I wanna go check on her" Arizona said and stood up. Her and Christopher made their day over to Meredith's room

"Hey" Arizona knocked on the door

"She's already asleep" Carolyn quietly explained as her hand was running over Meredith's cold cheek

"You guys cut her hair.." Arizona smiled softly "I'm happy she has you guys"

Carolyn nodded and stood up "I need to talk to Ellis first"

Carolyn had a feeling Ellis would be in her office so that was what she started walking to. A knock on the door confirmed it, she heard Ellis inviting her inside

"Carolyn?" Ellis frowned

"Dr Grey, we just brought Meredith back" Carolyn explained

"Thank you. Thank you for everything you are doing for my daughter" Ellis said

Carolyn turned around when she heard Ellis sob

"I can't take care of my own daughter.." She cried

"I'm not gonna say it's okay because it's not. That girl needs you" Carolyn sternly said "But she understood and I think it's in her benefit. Me, my husband and our kids can take care of her, we don't mind" Carolyn softly explained

"It was okay after her last time being sick. Lara was there and I did my best but when Lara had to leave.. god, Meredith was still a child, I am a surgeon, not a mother" Ellis told her

"You are a mother, just not a mother figure" Carolyn said "Just go and visit her, go see her, show you care.. Please"

"I-I will" Ellis said

"Here" Carolyn grabbed one of the tissues she kept with her

"Thanks. And thank you for loving Meredith the way I can't"

"We'll always be here for her, she's part of our family" Carolyn nodded before she wanted to walk away "Just so you know, we cut her hair, she's losing it pretty quickly" And with that, Carolyn left and walked back to Meredith's room

The older woman smiled as she saw Derek trying to feed her some candy and hear her soft giggles

"No!" She started to shiver in his arms

"Oh, come here" He breathed and pulled the blanket over her. It seemed as if she stopped shivering after a bit

"Still, I don't want that" Meredith giggled

"You don't want me driving you around?" He laughed

"I want you with me" She laughed weakly

"I will always be here" Derek kissed her forehead

"Gross" Amelia laughed

"Go find yourself a hot boyfriend" Meredith laughed as she closed her eyes

"Where will I ever find one?" Amelia gasped

"Should I show you?" Mark joked

"That's enough guys" Carolyn laughed and walked over to wrap the scarf around Meredith's head so she would stay warm "Is this okay honey?"

"Yeah.. Thanks" She whispered as she fell asleep

"Of course she falls asleep when the best part of the movie starts" Mark joked

"Just because you think that's the best part makes it already the worst part" Amelia laughed as she pushed Mark a bit

Mark's phone beeped and he checked who was texting him

"Ohh, you got a text from Addison" Amelia smirked "Love is in the air" She laughed

"No way!" Derek gasped "Wait until I tell Mer about it" He laughed

"W-What?" She groaned in his arms

"Addison has been texting Mark" Derek quietly told her

"No way?" Meredith gasped

"Grey, I'm a womaniser" Mark smiled

"Whatever" She laughed

"Sleep" Derek kissed Meredith's forehead and by the time he had tucked her in, her soft snores filled the room
