It's all coming back to me now (2/4)

The transplant went well, Meredith was still weak and in isolation in the ICU. Today would be the day that they would find out if treatment had worked and if she could go back home or not

"Come on Mark, hurry!" Derek yelled as he and Amelia were putting on their shoes so they could leave

"Hurrying!" He yelled back and they heard him running down the stairs

"Was Addison texting you again?" Amelia smirked

"Amy!" He rolled his eyes

"Come on, I wanna see Mer" Derek got frustrated

"Derek" Both Amelia and Mark sighed

"Is everyone ready?" Christopher asked with a smile

"Yes!" The three kids nodded and followed their dad outside to the car

"Here we go guys!" Christopher smiled and started driving towards the hospital

Carolyn was already at the hospital. Her shift would end in a few minutes and then they would find out if the transplant had worked or not

"For real.. That girl keeps texting you" Amelia laughed as she sneakily looked when Mark was busy texting on his phone

"Amy!" He pushed her slightly

"Guys" Christopher laughed "We're here and now behave, okay?"

"Yes dad" The three of them laughed as they all got out of the car and walked inside of the hospital

"Okay, the three of you have to wait here. Mom will be here any second" He kissed his three kids' foreheads and walked towards Meredith's room

...

It took a while before their dad had returned. If they could come to Meredith's room, then the transplant would've worked, if they couldn't come, it hadn't

Derek saw his father walking towards them, his face unable to read

"Dad?" Amelia gasped slightly

"You guys coming? We don't want Meredith to wait" He smiled widely

"I-It worked?" Carolyn softly gasped before tears started streaming down her face

"It did" Christopher kissed her lips passionated and they made their way over to Meredith's hospital room

Christopher went first and noticed she was asleep

"Come in, quickly" Christopher smiled and let his wife and three kids in. They all took a seat before Derek started waking up Meredith

"Mer, wake up" Derek softly whispered

"W-What?" She softly groaned but didn't open her eyes just yet

"Mer, open your eyes" Derek laughed

"Der?" She gasped as she finally opened them "I- Did it work?" She looked at Carolyn and Christopher

"It worked" They smiled back at her. They eventually all stood up and pulled each other in for a group hug

"Can I finally come home?" She looked into Carolyn's eyes as they let go of each other

"We can take you today" Carolyn softly smiled back "I'm taking some time off so I can help you with your recovery" Carolyn softly rubbed Meredith's upper arm

"Thank you" Meredith started tearing up

"I let your mother know, I assume she'll wanna come see you" Christopher said

"I'd like that" Meredith nodded softly

"Okay let's pack!" Mark laughed and started grabbing Meredith's belongings

"It's pretty cold today so let's dress you warm" Carolyn said as she helped Meredith into a pair of leggings before putting on a pair of thick socks and Meredith's favourite pair of UGGs

"Here Mer" Amelia handed Meredith a warm beanie

"Thanks" Meredith whispered and out it on her head to keep herself warm

Carolyn saw Meredith was exhausted already and let her rest a bit against her chest while Christopher was signing the discharge papers

"Mom, can we all sleep downstairs in the living room?" Amelia asked with a huge smile

"Of course" Carolyn nodded and noticed Meredith had fallen asleep in her arms "Oh, Dear" She sighed and stroked her fingers over Meredith's pale skin

"We're ready to go" Christopher softly smiled

"She's asleep" Carolyn whispered

"I'll carry her" Christopher nodded

"Do I need to get her a wheelchair?" Mark asked

"It's okay. She isn't heavy at all" Christopher smiled softly and lifted her out of his wife's arms into his

"Let's go home!" Amelia giggled

They finally arrived home. Christopher carried Meredith inside and laid her down on the couch

"The kids asked if she all could sleep downstairs" Carolyn told Christopher "I said it was okay for me"

"I think it's what we all need. A night together" Christopher smiled "Me and the kids will make sure everything's ready"

"I'll change her into some warm sweats" Carolyn nodded

A few hours later Meredith was awake and all of them were watching a movie. "I'm glad you're home" Derek whispered and kissed Meredith's cheek

"Me too" Meredith smiled "We can finally start our future"

"A couple of kids running in our backyard, our own house somewhere in the middle of nature"

"I would love that" Meredith smiled softly

"It will work out, I promise" Derek kissed her cheek softly

"Mom, dad?" Mark smiled softly

"Yeah?" Carolyn smiled softly as she looked at him

"Would it be okay if I introduce all of you to Addison tomorrow?" He asked

"Finally!" Amelia yelled

"What?" Derek looked up at the noise

"Mark's gonna introduce you to his girlfriend!" Amelia told them

"Really?" Meredith looked up

"It's no big deal" Mark sighed

"Oh Markie" Carolyn giggled and pulled him in for a hug "We'd love to meet her"

"Okay" Mark smiled "Now go back to watching the movie"

"Markie's embarrassed" Meredith laughed from her spot in Derek's arms

"He's turning a bit red" Derek chuckled

"Guys, stop teasing him" Carolyn laughed

"But mom, it's so funny" Amelia laughed

"It is" Christopher agreed

"Dad!" Mark gasped

"Come on, let's keep watching the movie" Christopher said as she linked her hand with her husband and watched at her kids, feeling blessed for all of them
