It's all coming back to me now (2/4)

Meredith was once again sitting in Derek's lap as they were watching a movie

"Guys, we're gonna get ready once the movie ends" Christopher told them

"It's almost the end of the movie" Mark told Christopher

Time passed by and when the movie ended, Derek had helped her sit up and put on the beanie instead of the scarf to keep her warm. He helped her into her jacket but got distrubed when she started to gag again

"What's wrong?" He rubbed her bag as Carolyn held out the bucket in front of her

Meredith still had the mouth sores which made it almost impossible to talk

"S-Stom-" She tried to force out but cried out in pain

"Stomach?" Carolyn guessed and Meredith nodded her head

Carolyn handed Meredith some ginger ale and let the girl sip it slowly

"Are you ready to leave?" Christopher asked as he walked in

"We just need to put on Mer's shoes and jacket" Carolyn softly replied

"H-Home" Meredith cried out both in pain and both because of the mental pain

"You'll be back here soon enough" Derek rubbed her back

...

"Meredith, dear. I'm so sorry" Carolyn rubbed the teenager's back "You need to go into isolation"

"Please, no!" Meredith sobbed and clenched her jaw in her hand as the mouth sores still weren't completely faded

"Christopher and I will come see you as much as possible and we can set up a livestream for you to see the kids" Carolyn helped Meredith into the hospital gown as she wasn't further allowed to wear her pajamas

"Call Der?" Meredith asked, her hand still clenching her jaw

"Of course" Carolyn softly smiled and reached out for Meredith's phone

"Mer? Is everything okay?" Derek's voice was heard through the phone

"I.. Isolation" She forced out

"Mer? Mom?" Derek started panicking

"Derek, dear.. Arizona decided that Meredith needs to go into isolation" Carolyn explained

"L-Love you" Meredith's voice cracked

"I love you too Meredith. We'll call as much as you want, okay?" Derek assured her

Meredith nodded even if Derek couldn't see. She just couldn't talk anymore. Her mouth was burning and made it impossible to say one more sentence

...

"Mom, when is she finally coming out of isolation?" Derek asked his mom when he ended the videochat his parents had set up

"Soon.." Carolyn sighed "But she's weak Derek, we don't know if itns better for her to stay in the hospital or come home"

"But mom, she misses home" Derek frowned

"We know Derek" Carolyn sighed in defeat

"It's been two weeks since I last saw her" Derek started sobbing

"I have to go to the hospital in a bit. Anything I have to bring her?" Carolyn asked softly

"Can you please give her a hug, she needs it" Derek asked with teary eyes

"Of course" Carolyn smiled softly and got herself ready to leave

As Carolyn was driving to the hospital, she started thinking about ways to take Meredith home without risking anything. She wanted to talk to her husband and Arizona about this

And so she did, once she was dressed and did a round on all the patients on her floor, except Meredith, she wanted to talk to Christopher and Arizona

"Carolyn, I wanna take her home" Christopher said as he arrived at the conference room

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. She needs to go home" Carolyn smiled softly as she knew her husband always had her back

"You paged me?" Arizona entered the room

"We wanna take Meredith home" Christopher and Carolyn both said at the same time

"Her counts have been better.." Arizona sighed as she looked at Meredith's chart "She'll need constant care. She's very weak"

"I'll stay home for a bit. I still have some days I can take" Carolyn immediately said

"Me too, we can make a schedule" Christopher offered

"Okay.. But what about your other kids? They might be a risk for her" Arizona sighed

"They have summer break. They have been helping take care of her since the beginning, I'm sure they'll agree if we ask them" Christopher nodded

"They usually hang out together, only Mark is seeing his girlfriend" Carolyn explained

"Okay.. But take the time you need to prepare everything. Maybe we can discharge her in a few days" Arizona smiled softly "I have to go check her blood counts and blood pressure"

"I'll do it, we can tell her the good news" Christopher offered and stood up after an assurant nod from Arizona

"I'll come with you, I haven't seen her yet today"

The two of them walked through the hallways to the ICU to go see Meredith

"Meredith?" Carolyn softly said as she entered

"Yeah?" The tiny figure in the big bed responded

"Hey Meredith" Carolyn smiled "We have to check you out"

"Kay" She sighed as her eyes kept closed

"We have something to tell you. Some very good news" Carolyn smiled

By now Meredith had opened her eyes and looked hopeful at Christopher and Carolyn

"What would you think about coming home again?" Christopher smiled

"Really?" Meredith gasped and wanted to sit up but her body protested at the movement

"Really" Carolyn smiled at the younger girl

"That's great" Meredith smiled as some tears escaped her eyes

"We haven't told the kids yet, what would you think about facetiming them?" Christopher suggested

"Can we?" Meredith smiled as the sparkle was back in her eyes

"Let's call them" Carolyn grabbed the tablet that was on the nightstand and called Derek

"Hey mom! Everything okay?" Derek's voice was heard

"Yes son, go get your siblings" Carolyn smiled

"Mark, Amy!!" Derek yelled

"What's up?" They heard Mark's voice which made Meredith chuckle

"Mom's calling" Derek announced

"Mom, what's wrong?" Amelia asked as she appeared on the screen

Carolyn took a seat on the bed next to Meredith "Here's someone who wants to tell you guys something"

"I'm coming home" Meredith weakly smiled

"Mer, that's awesome!" Mark smiled

"You're serious?" Derek smiled "That's the best news I heard in a while" and Meredith had to giggle a bit

"Probably in three days" Christopher smiled as he adjusted Meredith's blanket a bit as the girl started shivering

"We'll make sure you have everything you need" Amy smiled

"Perfect!" Carolyn looked at her family and could only smile as she felt proud how all of them were trying to take care of Meredith
