"Mer, where are you?" Derek asked as he walked in with Ava, their two year old daughter, on his hip

"Coming!" Meredith waddled into the room

"Is someone giving you a hard time?" Derek joked as he placed his hands on Meredith's swollen stomach

"She doesn't stop kicking. And I dropped, Derek.. She'll come any day" Meredith smiled softly

"So glad IVF could help us" Derek kissed her forehead

"Mama!" Ava giggled from her spot in Derek's arms

"Hey princess, have you been good?" Meredith smiled softly "We're going to Nana and Poppa. Aunt Amy will be there and aunt Addie" Meredith explained

"Don't forget uncle Mark" Derek laughed

"No one cares about uncle Mark" Meredith giggled

"Because he called you a whale the other day?" Derek laughed

"I felt offended and you should too because that would mean you're married to a whale" She winked

"A very sexy whale" Derek kissed her lips

"Hey! I'm not a whale!" Meredith pretended to be hurt "You sir, you'll sleep on the couch"

"But I need to keep you company" Derek smirked

"Emma will keep my company and she doesn't stop moving anyway so I'll have enough company" Meredith giggled and sat down to put on her shoes and groaned as she had trouble reaching her feet, causing Derek to chuckle "You evil man, come and help me instead of laughing"

"Sorry" Derek chuckled once more and sat down on his knee as he put on Meredith's shoes

"Let's go" She sighed as she pushed herself up and waddled out of the house, straight to the car

"Okay Ava, you ready?" Derek smiled

"Yes daddy!" The little girl nodded her head firmly

"Are you ready?" Derek asked Meredith

"Yeah" She breathed and rested her right hand on top of her belly while Derek grabbed the other and gave it a soft squeeze

It was warm outside, it was a sunny and warm day. Derek drove the car onto the ferry and all three of them climbed out and went to the deck to enjoy

"I need to sit" Meredith breathed and walked over to a bench. She rested her head on Derek's shoulder as she was brushing her fingers over Ava's cheek

"Mommy, hungry!" Ava giggled

"I'm hungry too, baby. Nana made lunch" Meredith smiled widely

"Nana!! Mmmm" The little girl's eyes opened wide

"Nana's the best cook, right Mer?" Derek joked. Even his mother couldn't teach Meredith how to cook. It had improved a lot over the years, especially since Ava was born but it still went wrong from time to time

"Bully" She rolled her eyes "Damn I love being pregnant but it's time for her to come out because I need to cut, I need to operate" Meredith sighed

"Soon, only a few weeks left" Derek kissed her temple

"I can't believe we made it" Meredith quietly said as she turned her head and looked straight into Derek's eyes

"We made it" He nodded softly

"Two perfect girls, our family and both of us surgeons" Meredith smiled softly

"You're chief of general" He chuckled as he pulled her close

"You're chief of neuro" Meredith giggled "You did it" Meredith kissed Derek's lips as she remembered he once promised her to become a neurosurgeon back when she was 6 years old and diagnosed with a brain tumor "Sometimes I wished my mother would have been able to see how far we got"

"We did it and I'm sure she knows. She would be proud of you" Derek kissed her back "We should head back to the car" He stood up and helped Meredith up

They continued their way to Carolyn and Christopher's house while listening to some songs. Ava was humming with the music from her spot in the back while Meredith had fallen asleep, the pregnancy was really taking its toll on her body

"Mer, we're here" Derek whispered

"I don't wanna get up" She groaned

"I can't carry you, baby" Derek sighed

"Because I'm a whale" She breathed before opening her eyes and unbuckling herself

"Mer" Derek chuckled

"Come on, help me out of the car" She laughed

"Can do" Derek smiled and helped her out before carrying Ava out of the car

"Mom is probably worried because we're so late" Meredith said

"She knows you've been tired" Derek wrapped his arm around her waist "You're almost nine months pregnant"

"Don't remind me" Meredith laughed as they reached the front door. Derek opened it for her and she walked in

"Hi guys!" Amelia ran up to them "How's this little one doing?" Amy rubbed her hand over Meredith's huge stomach before taking Ava in her arms and cuddling the girl tightly

"She's been kicking a lot" Meredith laughed as she saw Addison walking towards them

"Hey Mer" Addison hugged Meredith. The two of them became really close friends over the years

"Hi" Meredith hugged her back

"Hey Em" Addison rubbed Meredith's stomach as well

"Time for her to get out" Derek said as he led Meredith inside, Ava still on his hip

"Hey guys!" Carolyn and Christopher said

"Hey mom, hi dad" The two of them chuckled as they walked in

"Nana! Poppa!" Ava giggled in Amelia's arms

"Hey princess!" Christopher smiled "Nana made your favourite!"

"Really?" Ava gasped as Amelia walked towards her dad so he and the little girl in her arms could say hi

"Hi dear, I was slightly worried. How are you feeling?" Carolyn asked softly

"Tired" Meredith breathed. "And my back is sore but it's okay. It's worth it" Meredith rubbed her stomach

"Her cravings have been so bad" Derek chuckles

"What have you been craving?" Carolyn asked with a smile

"Apple sauce" Meredith sighed

"I thought you never wanted to eat that after your chemo sessions" Carolyn laughed softly as she rubbed Meredith's back

"I don't know what's going on inside my head but this baby craves applesauce so bad and I just don't get it" Meredith shook her head

"I was shocked when she asked for it" Derek chuckled

"As long as you want it because of the baby it's good" Carolyn kissed Meredith's forehead

"Yeah" Meredith breathed as she shivered for a second. She hated thinking of those awful times

"Do you want me to go grab you a bowl of applesauce?" Carolyn suggested

"Would you mind?" Meredith laughed softly

"Of course not" Carolyn laughed and stood up before walking to the kitchen

"I love you and our girls" Derek kissed her lips and placed his hand on her stomach "So so much"
