Chapter Eighty-Two: Under the Crimson Sky

THIRD PERSON

Nakatayo ang bawat miyembro ng Reaper's Oath sa mga gusaling nakapalibot sa grupo ni Marcella at June.

The tension that surrounded the place has risen. Bumigat na ang hangin sa paligid ngayong ang dalawang nasa taas na alyansa ang nagkaharapan. The silent rift between the two has always been observed and now there's a chance that it will happen.

In the middle, overlooking the two female rogues, was Eura. Taas-noo siyang nakaupo sa rooftop at binibigyan ng mala-demonyong ngisi ang mga nasa ibaba. Aside from her, the other members did not move. They stood as still as corpses, but their eyes are glued at every movements. Hindi makakatakas kahit ang pasimpleng pag-ayos ng buhok.

If Blood Vanguard is an alliance of pro warriors and Death Crows is a group of murderers, then Reaper's Oath is filled with cold-blooded rogues.

Well, exception na lang ang iba kagaya ni Gavin. Surprise attacks lang ang mayro'n siya but his agility is another conversation.

"Oh, wow. Are you all here to save Finley? I thought the Reaper's Oath decided to be neutral. Why are you picking a side now?" tanong ni Marcella.

Hawak-hawak ni June ang nabaling kamay nang dahan-dahan siyang umatras. She made a subtle sign with her hands para sa mga ka-alyansa. They should all be ready to flee at any signs of battle. Hindi sila pwedeng lumaban muli.

"We've already pick a side since day one, Marcie. We follow Kairo's decisions, kahit na hangal sa pag-ibig 'yon. Wala namang problema sa'kin dahil isa rin akong fangirl."

Marcella scoffed. "Gano'n ba. E bakit wala kayo sa tabi ni Finn noon? Sandali niyo bang nakalimutan ang pagka-fangirl niyo?"

Natahimik dahil doon si Eura. There's nothing that could excuse her behavior. Yes, she may have tried to help but she also let someone stop her. At eto't ayaw niya pa ring harapin si Finn. But not for some stupid reason like accusing her or something. It's... much more embarrassing.

"Kaya nandito kami ngayon."

Nagulat ang lahat nang magsalita si Gavin. Kilala siya nina Marcella dahil sa kaugnayan nito kay Finn, but he's not really that active in participating when it comes to games. Hindi din siya pala-salita sa mga ganitong okasyon kaya minsa'y nakakalimutan nilang nandito pala siya.

"Alam naming nakagawa kami ng matinding kasalanan kay Finn. While you burned her at a stake, we stood in the sidelines and watched. Wala kaming nagawa dala ng takot at dahil hindi kami naniniwala sa sariling kakayanan." patuloy niya. "Kaya ngayon, gusto naming bumawi. We're late but at least we came."

Parang napaluha si Eura sa narinig. She's actually surprised Gavin did not chase Kairo to look over Finn's condition. Kitang-kita sa mukha nito ang kaba at pag-aalala kahit na parang kalmado siya. Does he really trust Finn in Kairo's hands already?

Napairap naman si June sa speech ni Gavin. Siguro ngang nasa magkakaibigan ang ability na magsalita ng gano'n. Parang naga-advocate or running for elections sila palagi. It absolutely infuriates June. They act as if each other's pain should always be healed but disregard June's own.

Bakit kayang makapagsalita ni Gavin ng ganiyan pero dinadaanan lang siya nito sa school campus? If Finn's in pain, she is too! Why can't anyone see that and help her?

"He's right, Marcie!" pagsang-ayon ni Eura. "We were assholes back then but we can't be forever. We were too busy about protecting something that we failed to see what really needs protecting. But that won't happen again."
