Part 11: "THE RITUAL" (Part1)

Nicholas POV

The day has finally come, I can't wait to go. My future Beta Lucas also has no mate and he will come with me. Accompanied of course by a warriors for protection, which my father explicitly asks for. He says that I will soon be king and that I must have an escort wherever I go.

Whatever I just want to go, I want to find her, I want to hold her, kiss her and love her. "Are you ready?" My Beta asked me via mind link. "Of course, I'm actually shaking with excitement, when are we leaving?" I asked him excitedly, like a small child. "In 1 hour." he replied, and chuckle a little. Before we left, I had to greet my father. I knocked on his door. "Come in." Hello father, Lucas and I are leaving in an hour."

" I know, son, I wish you luck, I hope you finally find her. Be careful." He said looking under his eyebrows. "You know I will, thank you, I'll get back to you when we get there." He just nodded and continued his work. I hurried to my room, took a shower and packed my things, I didn't carry much. I mind linked my Beta that I was ready and that we could leave earlier if everything was prepared, he said that everything was ready and that they were just waiting for me, I hurried through the hallway and within a second I was outside, Lucas was putting things in the cars.

"Are you ready to meet the love of your life?" he asked laughing. "I am, are you ready?"
" Of course, somehow I have a feeling that this time we are not returning home empty-handed."

Lana's POV

I woke up this morning sleepless like the last few days. Tired of stress and worry that doesn't stop, I can't wait for this day to end, maybe then I'll have some peace. I had no desire to get out of bed. When I smelled breakfast, my stomach growled, I knew that only hunger could get me up. I got up, put on a plain T-shirt and leggings, and went downstairs.

My aunt was making breakfast, the whole house was smelling so good. I sat down at the counter. "Good morning Dani, I hope you slept well?" I asked her. "Good morning, I slept well Bee, how are you feeling??" she asked me with pity. "I feel like shit. And I didn't sleep at all." Okay now Im swearing, I never swear in front of my aunt. She came up to me and hugged me tightly and placed a kiss on top of my head. "Everything will be fine Bee, I know you're scared, but don't let fear rule you. You are the strongest person I know, you can do it." She tried to comfort me, because my nervousness could be felt in the air.

"I will try." I said quietly. After breakfast, I had a few more hours to myself before I had to get ready for the Ritual, I decided to go for a run with Ruby it always helps me relax, and also I had to talk to her. When we got to the lake I asked her. "Ruby how do you know someone is your Mate?" I asked her shyly. "Simply, Mate was created for you, he is a part of you, your half, a soul mate. When you smell his scent, that scent is something divine and delicious and you have never smelled anything like that, ever. When your eyes meet you can't take your eyes off him. And your heart would love to jump out of your chest and hug him. His energy draws you to him, the only thing you feel is that you want to be with him all the time. Once you meet him you realize you don't want to live without him." She said all melted in her words.

"Wow. It doesn't sound so bad. Unless our Mate is some asshole who doesn't deserve us." I rolled my eyes and sighed." Don't be so negative Bee, think positive, maybe today will be the best day of your life."

Narrator:

The day went smoothly as all the girls slowly prepared for the Ritual. Makeup, hairstyle, dresses. They had to do their best to look as beautiful as possible. Some were excited, some terrified...

Lana's POV

After I got home I hurried to the shower, I had to wash my hair and dry it, and it was so long it will take me 100 years to just dry it, and I still have to curl it. I took a quick shower, then did my hair and makeup, I didn't want to overdo it with my makeup.

What to wear? I decided for a silky white dress that was tied around my neck and had a exposed back, and for low-heeled sandals to make it easier for me to run. It took me 3 hours to get ready. I heard my aunt's footsteps on the stairs. I knew what that meant. She knocked on my door and came inside:" Bee it's time."

We headed together to the gathering place, some girls were already there. I said goodbye to my aunt, a tear escaped my eye but I managed to retrain from bursting into tears. She's gone, this may be the last time I see her. I quickly gathered myself and started looking for Sabrina, when I already have to participate and go through this hell, I will go through it with my best friend.

I saw her, she was also looking for me. I ran to her and hugged her, I saw the horror on her face and I did my best to comfort her. At least I had Ruby, she had no one but herself and her fears. When all the girls got together, we sat down and started having dinner, there was silence. Nervousness was in the air. And I just wanted this to end.

It is almost midnight, wolves can be heard howling in the distance. Sabrina began to panic. "Lana I'm so scared." She said as her whole body visibly shook. "I know Sabrina and I'm scared too, I won't leave you for a second, I promise." An elder from the village approached us" It's 5 to midnight.." he said. "Girls good luck tonight, in exactly 5 minutes when you hear the bell start running into the woods and remember don't resist."

All the girls lined up. I looked to the right where the wolf girls were standing, ready and excited for the hunt to begin. To my left the human girls were shaking with fear, some even crying, it was horrible to watch. Sabrina wouldn't let go of my hand, I squeezed her closer to me,I needed to protect her. "Good luck Bee, I love you." My aunt told me through a min link. My eyes filled with tears. "Thanks Dani, I love you."

The bell rang. The girls started running into the woods, Sabrina and I didn't let each other go, we ran together. There was the sound of howling all over the forest from all directions, The cracking of branches under their paws could be heard, the whole woods was trembling. We ran as fast as we could. At one point I saw a huge wolf on my right side knocking down a girl, growling at her and not really looking like he loved her as Ruby described it, I was overwhelmed by even greater fear, now I started to panic.

After 10 minutes of running Sabrina couldn't take it anymore, she was exhausted. "Sabrina we can't stop now we have to go!" I told her in panic. Not a second passed, we were surrounded by 5 wolves. Huge 5 wolves, who were growling at us loudly. I think Sabrina fainted at that moment. I didn't think twice I let Ruby take control. We tried to growl as loudly as we could, they might get scared and leave us alone. I was twice as big as those wolves and ready to fight. Even though I was outnumbered, I was ready for anything. One wolf ran at me, I slipped away and knocked him to the floor, growling all the time.

Then two crashed at me at the same time, one climbed on my back and started biting my shoulders as I tried to overpower the other. At that moment, I saw the big brown Wolf running towards us. I thought "Great, another one, I have to kick his ass too." But on the contrary, he began to fight the other two wolves fiercely. I didn't get to watch because I was also struggling with two wolves, one not wanting to get off my back while I tried to outpower this one below me. After a second, I felt someone literally pull the wolf off of my back, which has been biting me until a little while ago.

I managed to knock the wolf below me, and then it hit me. The most delicious scent I have ever smelled. I looked around just wanting to hold him, smell his scent, exactly as Ruby described. And then I saw him. He removed that wolf from my back, overpowered him in a second and then turned to me, our eyes met. We spoke at the same time. MATE.
