You awake to a little yelp and a crash coming from the opposite side of your bedroom and you can't help but jolt to a sitting position. Your eyes, after you rub them of your tiredness, drift to the far corner of your bedroom and see your white-haired assistant on the floor with a blanket under one of his legs, the other ebony-skinned leg uncovered, aside from his carbon grey pleated trousers, and still on the couch, that he had fallen asleep on.
You clear your throat, your grogginess and shock slowly slipping away, throwing the covers off your divine body and taking a few steps towards the slightly older male who was struggling to get up.
"This something I never thought I see."
"Sir please look away, this is embarrassing."
"Seems like someone forgot my title, huh, Reaven?"
You crouch next to him, still being able to look down on him as he tries to get his arms and body untangle from the sheet that had entrapped him. His hair was both stuck to his forehead and messy behind his head from moving so much, he would have to put more effort into brushing it as he usually puts it into a bun before bed, he was just far too exhausted to do so.
His eyes widen and he immediately starts to apologize and, while you thought his eyes would have bounced around the room avoiding your gaze but, he had more bravery than that, looking at your handsome face with his golden eyes
"Your Divineness, I'm so sorry, I just woke up, I didn't mean to, really, I'm sorry, I should have remembered that you're above me even in my state, I-"
"Am... am I interupping something?"
You couldn't but laugh at the mortified look on Reaven's face, you even pointed it out to Damien, who had walked further in once you waved him over to explain.
"No, Damien but, did you think me and Reaven were... getting together..?"
Your ginger knight turns away, his freckles more visible with the light blush that dusted his cheeks. You finish your howling, nearly bending backwards as tears threaten to slip from your lids.
You help Reaven escape from his make-shift bindings but it was quite difficult because he kept apologizing and thrashing against both your touch and one of your blankets. Eventually, you got fed up with him making it so much harder than it needs to be and, gently, of course, you held him down by his shoulders. You sigh through your nose as your mouth forms an annoyed scowl, you turn to Damien and gesture to the squirming male on the floor.
Thankfully, he gets the message, grabbing his left shoulder and his right thigh, angeling the assistant, who was two inches taller than him, so that you could remove the blanket with ease.
After asking Reaven if it was okay to touch so low on his body.
Finally, Reaven was free of his shabby imprisonment and you had gotten some exercise in for the day.
"I'm sorry I took up so much of your time, Your Divineness, I'll run your bath since the help apparently can't do their job without me!"
Reaven shoots an annoyed look to the door and raises his tone as if some help is going to waltz in. He then completely ignores Damien who sarcastically mumbles a 'thank you' before saying he'll get your breakfast and leaving.
"I 'spose I should also get your clothes ready for the day, ah, by the way, Your Divineness has a free day today."
A plate of blessed kingdom breakfast, mostly vegetables due to the large farms that covered that land, and it did smell quite amazing, so why weren't you eating?
Medea sat across from you, Willow stood by her side, as she eat her similar morning meal. Her hair was styled into waterfall braids and she kept admiring the gold accessories that she was given, it wasn't odd, you had done the same when you were much younger. You were focused on her so much that your food had gone cold and you hadn't even eaten any of it, so when some of the help went to clear your plate they couldn't help but question.
"Your Divineness, did you not like your meal? I can have the chefs make something else?"
"No. I'll just have a larger lunch."
"Cousin,"
Your eyes float back up to Medea, looking at her furrowed brows and a slight frown. She spoke slowly, every word reaching your ears and her tone held faux concern. It was almost teasing or condescending.
"You shouldn't skip breakfast. Your chefs are talented, don't let it go to waste."
You had to bite your tongue, stopping yourself from screaming at her. What was she playing at? Trying to charm you to give her the position you earned through both luck and hard work? It was getting harder and harder to keep your cool but you know you must, if you snap, people would know you were strongly gifted by the third. He was protecting you and since he had killed one of his butlers, people would think that you had sacrificed someone to him.
Ah, your inner tangent made you stare silently at the gold decorated table and now, instead of the food you hadn't eaten, a plate of fruit and yogurt was placed in front of you. Your knight looking at you expectedly, who sat where your assistant would normally sit but Reaven was having some trouble getting dressed apparently.
"Damien, check."
You pass your plate to him, you didn't see who ordered this to be made so it was best that whoever was next to you try it before you do.
He had small bites so that if it was poisoned he would be just fine, he had eaten small amounts of poison since he started training so that his body would be used to such tiny doses. It was a common practice when you knew that someone important would hire you.
He passes it back to you and, since you had planned to do something rather taxing today, you eat the meal laid out in front of you.
Medea watching from across the table.
