A Not So Subtle Mission

I look inside the cupboard and put the last loaf of bread behind some other products.

'Phil?'

Phil walks inside the kitchen 'Yes, Techno?'

'There's no more bread.'

'What? I thought there was one left.' Phil walks towards me to look inside the cupboard.

'Well, it's not here.'

Phil sighs loudly. 'Just eat something else.'

'Tommy really wants bread, don't you Tommy?' He looks at me and tilts his head, I gesture to him to go along with it. Luckily he gets the clue and nods vigorously.

Phil sighs once again, 'Okay, fine, I'll go to the store.'

He takes the keys off the counter and walks out the door. I wait until I hear the front door close and instantly sit at the table across from Tommy and Wilbur.

'Okay, now that he's gone, let's get to business.'

'What are you on about?' Wilbur stares at me.

'I have an important mission, and I need your help.'

Tommy immediately scoops closer to me, he's obviously excited already.

'Phil has a secret stash of invisibility potions. They are very expensive and difficult to make.'

'So?'

'So I want to find his stash and steal one of them.'

'Why?'

'Because they're really fun to play with!' I lean back in the chair, 'That's also the reason Phil doesn't let me have one.'

I watch as Tommy smiles at Wilbur, asking if they can do it. Wilbur seems to be doubting it at first, but Tommy managed to persuade him into agreeing.

He really just asked it over and over again for five minutes and that agitated Wilbur enough to agree.

'Great, we'll need to come up with a plan.'

'Heeey, Phil.'

Phil looks at me with slightly squinted eyes 'It sounds as if you need something from me.'

'Nah, I just want to hang out with one of my best friends.'

'You have more than one?'

'Ouch.' I put my hand to my heart, to show it hurts.

Tommy and Wilbur are upstairs, I told them which rooms they had to search through. Unfortunately, I don't know where Phil's stash is, so we'll have to search through the entire castle. It's my job to distract Phil.

'Spit it out, Techno.'

'I was just wondering if you'd like to stay in this room for a while.'

'What? Why?'

'Because it's very... cosy?' I am officially the worst liar ever.

'Where are Wilbur and Tommy?'

'They're just having breakfast downstairs.' I say quickly.

We just had breakfast, so I hope Phil's long term memory is getting worse.

Phil suddenly shouts. 'Wilbur?'

Shit.

'Yes?' Wilbur shouts back.

'Where are you?'
