"Listen, I know yo daddy good at pissin you off, and I know you be frustrated when you go over to his house and shit, but you can't just be taking yo frustration out on the wrong people Kaleia" my uncle, Benji told me as I spoke to him over the phone, sitting in my car just getting home from my week at my daddy's house
"I just don't want him to get disappointed"
"I understand but Jeremiah is just like his daddy. He might be goofy as hell but he ain stupid. He know it's a possibility he might not play professionally but it still don't hurt to go after his dream cause he got a back up plan. And I bet you ain ask him did he have one. Did you?"
"No"
"Did you even say congratulations at least"
"... no" I muttered and he chuckled
"You young, you got a lot going on but you still learning. Just talk to him though cause he ain gone say it but you hurt that boy feelings. Especially and you was the first person he told"
"You making me feel bad"
"I'm not tryina make you feel bad. But come on Kaleia.."
I sighed, looking down at my nails
"Ima talk to him"
"Yeah you do that.. where you at right now?"
"Just got home"
"Well ima let you go cause I know you probably happy as hell to be back home. I just needed to see what was going on witchu"
"Okay. Well I'll talk to you later"
"Ight"
I hung up the phone and got out of the car seeing my step dad come out of the house with one of my brothers, Bryson.
"Hey LeeLee" Bryson yelled, running over to me and gave me a hug
"Hey. Where y'all going?"
" yo momma want a cheesecake" my stepdad explained while unlocking the doors to his car
"Oh lord" I laughed
"You had fun at yo daddy's house?"
I made a face causing him to chuckle
"You know how that goes"
"You want something from the store?"
"No I'm good. Thank you though"
He nodded and they headed to the car while I went in the house
"Hey Leelee" my other brother, Braxton said as he looked over at me, taking his eyes off of the tv for a little bit to greet me then went back to what he was doing
"Hey Braxton"
I went into the kitchen and saw my momma stuffing her face with a cupcake. She works a tight fitted long sleeve shirt, some pajama pants and her big ass belly hung low
"Cupcakes and cheesecake ma?" I asked, catching her attention
"Shut up" she replied making me laugh "you had fun at your daddy's house?"
"Why do both of y'all ask me that question knowing my answer will always be the same"
"Cause Kaleia, I just hope one day I get a different answer"
"You know how my daddy is so you know that answer will never change"
"Well I'm sorry. I wish I would've waited a little longer for Elijah and you wouldn't have to deal with having a sorry ass daddy. Hand me that whipped cream out the side of the fridge"
