"So they really did fight?" I asked Kyran as I took my food out of the microwave, looking at him as he stood beside me
He nodded, probably high right now because he did leave campus to go get kinsley something to eat and knowing him he smoked in the process
"That's crazy. What did they fight over specifically?"
"Ion know. I ain even know they was beefin that bad but shit. Don't nobody tell me nothing"
"Could it be because Kaleia think I want Jeremiah?"
Kyran rose his eyebrow "what?"
"Ion know. It's like after they broke up she just been looking at me different and when I was at his house talking to him she called and was basically making sure there was nothing going on with me and him"
"You and Jeremiah ain ever gave off the impression y'all talkin"
"We must do to her. And I would never do nothing like that. Out of respect for somebody I thought was my friend and mostly because Jeremiah is basically a brother to me. And everybody knows that"
"She just probably a lil insecure right now cause she realize he got options"
"But that don't mean I'm one of them. I don't want Jeremiah"
"Cause you want me" Kyran smiled and I rolled my eyes, trying not to smile as well
"Kinsley is waiting on me at the table"
He held his arm out blocking me from walking then kinda pulled me back "Kinsley can wait"
"I just knew y'all was gone be in here" I heard Jeremiah's voice making the both of us look and I smiled, going to give Jeremiah a hug
"What time you got back from Kentucky?"
"We got in at like 8. I was supposed to stay home but said fuck it cause my momma and daddy been on that shit"
"What happened?"
Kyran walked up beside me as Jeremiah explained
"My momma get home and ready to cook. Talkin bout she found some new shit she wanna try and my daddy just... my daddy. That's the only way I can explain it"
"Stay home and try new food. Nigga that's the life" Kyran mumbled
"It sound like fun until you do it with my momma. She be askin me what's missing and then get mad cause I don't know. Or I just tell her salt, pepper, seasoned salt or garlic powder"
"Your mothers a wholeee chef and those are the only seasonings you know" I crossed my arms
"Listen you lil beige Barbie. You sit there and get cursed out cause she want you to think of a seasoning you ain ever heard of. Last time she cursed me and my daddy out cause she asked me to help her find what was missing in her new recipe and I didn't know what to tell her. It was some shit I can't even pronounce and she expected me to know it like I eat it everyday"
"You probably do. You just don't pay attention when your mother cooks"
"One day she gone poison you and yo daddy" Kyran told Jeremiah and I laughed as we all headed to the cafeteria
Both Kingsley and Kaleia sat at the lunch table quietly. Kaleia ate while she looked at her phone and kinsley just ate. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife that it was making me uncomfortable
Kaleia cut her eyes at Jeremiah but he just ignored it, sitting down in his usual seat beside her
"How everybody weekend went?" He asked with a smile, looking around and I rubbed my lips together, looking between kinsley and Kaleia
