"Ya Adeel! I've always been wondering if you are ever going to stop calling me sassy. And now it's not just that but sassy rosy cheeks? Like seriously?!" Humaira whined with a laugh and pouted even though he couldn't see her through the other side of the phone.
"Nop. No chance and if you keep whining like that i'll have no choice but to give you another nickname, rosy cheeks. Your cheeks are rosy by the way so why grumble?" Adeel laughed shaking his head at her childlikeness. Typical last born, he thought.
Its been two weeks since he'd brought them back to Katsina and since after their heart to heart conversation at the restaurant, their friendship has quite been blooming.
"No way!" She huffed playfully and giggled.
"Yes way! I am only 27 but you've also been calling me " Yaya Adeel" for forever now that not only Adeelah but you as well keep making me feel like an old bachelor. So we're now equal." He shrugged and she could imagine him wearing a cocky smirk.
"You just said it yourself. You're not getting any younger, old Ya Adeel. Get yourself a wife so addressing you as Ya Adeel won't be a bother anymore." She snickered and he couldn't help her contagious laughter but to join in as well.
"My regards to Ammi please." He said.
"Okay In Sha Allah." She replied and they talked more for a little while longer before hanging up after they said said their goodbyes.
"Erhm erhm!!" Adeelah slightly coughed clearing her throat and that was when Humaira remembered their presence in the room as her cheeks flushed.
"Erhm erhm. Do you aslo smell what i smell in here deelah love?" Maryam played along while sniffing the room with her eyes closed.
"And it's an incredible smell, on god." Adeelah added pretended to inhale and exhale as well.
"Enough with all these melodrama you guys. I'm not finding it funny. Hope you do realise I'm still here in this room right?" Humaira glared at them accusingly.
"Well it didn't look like you realised we're still here in this room while you were on a call with old Ya Adeel right?" Maryam smiled mischievously from ear to ear.
"It felt as if we were a third wheel. Not like we mind being one though." Adeelah added with a fallacious sad look while struggling to keep herself from laughing.
"Woah! Woah! Now you guys are definitely making a mountain out of a molehill. That, I am sure. But then for your own information, just in case your minds are making up scenarios, there's nothing like that going on between me and Ya Adeel. We're just good friends, that's it and you know it." She concluded referring to both ladies with an alert look.
"Just friends huh? Keep telling yourself that? Why the apprehensive look then?"
"Not just that. Did we mention anything of that sort going on between you?" Maryam fired her own question just as Adeelah snapped her mouth shut.
"What did you two take? Too much sugary stuffs that we bought in the store yesterday yeah? Cuz there must be something surely wrong with you. But I'm not letting your crazy insinuations get to me right now. You can go find someone else." Humaira hastily made an attempt to stand up but Adeelah beat her to it as she held her right wrist and settled her right back in her position.
"You're not going to fool us with that little speech. No way are we going to pay heed to it. It's been what now?" Adeelah tsked with a snap of her fingers trying to keep a serious expression from the exuberant one on her face.
