"Rabbul izzah! Mairo if you're not done in the next two minutes, by Allah I'm taking my leave!" Humaira hissed for the umpteenth time. Today being their first day to attend lectures, being late and leaving a bad impression was the last thing she would like.
"Chill babes! I have finally found the clothe I've been looking for. Let me just quickly change." Maryam replied while hastily putting on the clothes on top of her undergarments.
"God is great. I'm already pitying my poor brother who has to deal with a wife that'll always make him late to wherever he goes, all in the name of dressing up." She dramatically shooked her head and headed for the door. Before Maryam who has finished dressing up was able to respond or Humaira getting to the door, they head a soft knock and looked curiously at each other. Nevertheless, she opened the door and was greeted with a soft smile.
"Assalamu alaikum fellow newbies. I hope you slept well?" Adeelah greeted from the other side her smile still not wavering as she leaned in to give Humaira a hug.
Humaira didn't find that akward for she already felt a certain camaraderie towards her although they met just yesterday. The good kind of vibe which says Adeelah was someone they can trust and be friends with.
Do you know those strangers we meet in life and feel so comfortable with and will be like 'where have you been all my life?' Well Adeelah feels like one of those people and right now Humaira couldn't help but return the gesture and then pulled away. " Wa'alaiki salam. We slept well alhamdulillah new friend, hope same?" Adeelah responded and then they did the same with Maryam.
"Let's go guys! We don't have time to waste time." Humaira grabbed their hands before they even got the chance to respond and off they went.
*~*~*
Humaira sat feeling bored out of her brains. She huffed time and time again till she could do so no more. It has been 30 minutes since she was sitted in the lecture theater but the lecturer was still yet to arrive.
What kind of lecturer is this that gets 30 minutes late on his first day meeting with new students? She doesn't know but what she knows for sure was that she was so not pleased with what he did and didn't find any of it funny.
She can vividly remember how she kept bugging Mairo to go to their lectures early in order not to leave a bad impression but here she was seeing the irony of life. It was her lecturer who was leaving the bad impression instead.
One thing for sure was, if Maryam gets to know of this then she was definitely going to make it the topic of discussion for the next few days or even weeks, and prank her with it whichever chance she gets so there was no way she's telling her.
Humaira noticed how the other students were just doing their thing. Some were using their phones, some chatting and some even sleeping. She sadly shooked her head as she looked down on her phone. Her battery was low if not she would have atleast played a game or chat with them Maryam. Albeit they must probably be busy with their lectures unlike her. And making new friends was definitely not on her to do list. She has heard far too many stories of how influencing a group of university friends can be to not have interest in having one apart from Adeelah.
Before she could get deeper into her world of thoughts, she heard a masculine voice clearing it's voice through a mike. Looking up came the physique of a relatively slender man who looked in his early 40s. He had a pair of glasses on and was formally wearing a suit. She didn't get to have a good look at his face as he started introducing himself plus his appearance was the last thing on her mind, not after waiting for over 30 minutes.
