Chapter 37

She happily dragged her feet out of the exams theatre. Humaira finally wrote her pending exams today and it felt like she was flying up above the world so high. The freedom felt was that of a bird's. And now all that was remaining was her results which she hoped with everything in her that she would scale through it as the questions were quite what she expected.

But then with how Mr.barau's threats had increased especially after she hit him with a vase, she was sure he had all the more reason to fail her again but she wasn't about to let that happen. Since he'd blown up the chance she gave him which was to leave her alone, she was now more than prepared to resort to her only option.

She retrieved the flash drive camera from her bag and made her way to the Senate building which was where the board of directors and other heads are. After she informed a secretary that she needed to see the dean of students, she was told to wait for 15 minutes sharp as he was currently in a meeting.

She idly scrolled through her phone till she was given the permission to enter the office. Humaira said her salam and figured he wasn't the only one in the office as there were three other members so she exchanged pleasantries with all of them.

"I would like to show you all something if it wouldn't be a bother. It's a serious case of harassment and I'm sure it won't take much of your time."

"Sure Miss Humaira. Please proceed." The dean uttered with keen interest.

She'd specifically brought her laptop with her for this reason so without much ado, she inserted the flash drive and placed the laptop on the desk in front of them.

Humaira watched with full patience as the shock slowly registered all over their faces. They all looked too startled to say anything for a brief moment and she knew if she hadn't decided to record everything then they probably wouldn't have believed her. It was worth the risk. She mentally patted herself on the back.

"This is ridiculous and very horrid. I'd never expected such inexcusable behaviours from Mr.barau. There has been rumours of him pursuing such habits but we decided to give him the benefit of the doubt as we didn't have any evidence agaisnt him. That has changed though, as you've brought this situation to light. On behalf of me and my colleagues, I'd like to apologise for this grave offence he committed against you." The dean expressed with full sincerity."

"Please do accept our apologies Miss Humaira. We assure you that this will never happen again. In the first place it was wrong of him to deliberately give you a spill over just for his selfish reasons and that has caused such shame to the school. We promise you though that he will get the taste of his own medicine. Thank you for bringing this to our notice and again, we're deeply sorry for all inconveniences caused." A member amongst the directors also added.

"Apologies accepted sir and thank you too for giving me a listening air and the assurance of taking an action." She gave a professional smile and took her leave after the conversation was over.

Feeling famished, she decided to branch to the school's cafeteria and feed her growling stomach. Not an hour later, news circulated all over that Mr.barau was sacked. Humaira wasn't really suprised at the news and kind of saw it coming but even though she was a victim in this, she felt a bit guilty that he'd lost his job because of her but then it wasn't her fault. His lewd ways led him to this for indeed what you sow so shall you reap.

Even the school's ENews and a local news channel broadcasted the news but thankfully the school's board kept it confidential and didn't release the video, instead, they reported that he was proved guilty of sexual harassment.

After she was done eating, she recieved a call from Adeelah telling her she went to check up on Goggo jidde and after that herself and Maryam have a suprise for her in lieu of her concluding her exams.
