dear diary,
Sorry for skipping yesterday , as I was feeling a bit low. I do not know what happens to me at night. I am always like , today , I will be all consistent and hardworking and stuff but in the mornings , all of that commitment to myself just vanishes away. Anyways , enough of the philosophy. I am here to share what I did today , not what I failed to do. This will keep me motivated to do more , to improve, I guess. So I started my day doing absolutely nothing . Took one class , left it in midway and then just roamed around ,here and there . The cycle never seems to end you know. After watching lectures in 2x speed , I feel like the teachers teaching live are extremely slow. I don't know . Maybe I have developed this habit of cramming lectures and notes at the eleventh hour, or I want everything as quick as possible ,or I have become lazy. Prepping for medical demands a lot a sacrifice , patience and practice , I know this . I know all of this . But it is difficult to actually stick to a routine , stepping out of the comfort zone. I need to . Gap year is for making amends , not repeating mistakes . I hope I get this as soon as possible .
ugh. Again the philosophy.
As for what I did today , I attempted a test today. A genetics test in biology. Of course . I scored 31/39 .I was 161 out of 3200 people . But to my amazement , I expected myself being under 100 . At least. As I have already studied this chapter like a 10 times . I guess I need to practice questions more often. This was a PYQ test though. And I found this new youtuber today , his name being Ahmad Shahin. This man has scored a 100 percentile in MCAT , medical entrance equivalent to India . JUST WOW. So actually I wanted to know how to study efficiently for these entrance examinations AND not only efficiently , but also smartly . Because there is no end of the information flow. We need to study precisely . I know the books though, What should I go through or what not . As for me , I prefer NCERTS over any other side books or prepping material. I feel like we should know each and every line of NCERT textbook before going to any other study material or the question practice . And this works wonders. I found out this new technique , the POMODORO TECHNIQUE, while surfing on the internet . Few others as well , like active recall , spaced repetition, flash cards and question reviews . And I think I had been practicing this at the early stages of my NEET prep, unconsciously though. But this Pomodoro technique is quite interesting. You just need to read the pages in a fixed time. Like a chapter in 20-25 minutes , according to the length and the content , for sure. As of now , I am going with a blend of the Pomodoro + active recall + spaced repetition . I will reviewing the matter after doing a thorough study of it in 1 hour , then a day , three days , a week , a month and eventually three months . For that , I need to start now , as NEET is expected to be conducted around may 2022. These methods will help me in transitioning the information from my short term memory to the long term one.
I think this will work. I am working on a schedule right now . I also need to work on that backlog which I have created due to my lazy ass behavior .
So that was pretty much it . My 9th November.
Signing off
