Rolling over, I quietly groaned. I sat up and stretched my arms, letting out a yawn. Damn, I slept well. I didn't remember my dream at all which sucked, that was my favorite thing about sleeping. It seemed as I was living in a dream though. I had this kind and gorgeous boyfriend I was head over heels for, a nice house, a good job; I had no room to complain.
I got up and did my morning ritual. Brushing my hair and my teeth, making the bed, getting dressed; stuff like that. It was a pretty quiet morning which seemed odd to me. My boyfriend would usually be bothering me but he was nowhere to be seen. I sniffed the air. There was a slight scent of chili powder. I immediately blushed; he was cooking breakfast. Ali adored cooking breakfast, especially if it was for someone else. Anyone else's cooking skills were inferior compared to his. I felt as if I was eating a piece of heaven with every single bite of his food. He always had a new recipe up his sleeve, usually being some kind of Pakistani cuisine. Everything he made was delicious so I didn't mind at all.
I made my way to the kitchen, quietly humming to myself. It seemed I wasn't the only one enjoying some music though, as Ali was quietly dancing while he cooked. I guess those headphones I got him for his birthday were a good investment. I chuckled to myself remembering how happy he was when he opened them. He was always so worried about disturbing me when he played music despite my reassurances that he was no bother. We both shared a love for music which made us even more compatible. He was quick to listen to any song I recommended as I was with his songs. I watched him as he danced around the kitchen, completely oblivious of me. After a few minutes, I decided it was time to get his attention.
"Ali, babe," I lightly tapped his shoulder.
He quickly turned around with a giant smile on his face.
"Ah! Good morning my lovely," he slightly yelled.
I tapped my ear with a smile, reminding him that he was yelling over his music. He blushed and took an earbud out, setting it on the counter.
"Sorry, heh. How did you sleep?"
"I slept very well, thank you. Although I was sad that I woke up cold," I pouted jokingly.
He let out a silent chuckle and wrapped his arms around me, squeezing me tight. I buried my face in his chest and sighed, completely in bliss.
"Oh!" he quickly let me go and turned his attention back to the food, "I'm almost done with breakfast so I'd be very thankful if you could get the plates."
"Anything for you, Ali."
I opened the cabinet where they were and pulled them out. I set them next to him and patiently waited for him to put the food on them.
"Today's breakfast is mixed veggie paratha," he informed me, "it's a dough with vegetables mixed into it. And don't worry, I know you don't like peas so I just skipped those. There's also some red chili powder in there to give it some spice."
"You're literally the best," I got up on my toes to kiss his cheek before bringing the plates over to the table in front of the tv.
I sat down and turned it on to his favorite drama. I didn't care much for shows like that but I didn't mind watching them with him. Soon, he joined me on the floor, handing me a fork. I thanked him and started eating. As always, I fell in love with the food. I wolf down the food, enjoying every bite. Looking over, I noticed Ali smiling at me. I blushed and looked at his plate.
"You better eat that before I do," I teased him.
"Did you want more? Cause I can-"
"I'm kidding, dummy. Eat up, we got some stuff to do today."
As I explained our plans, he finished his meal. He stood up and took our plates to the sink, washing them.
"...so you better write down a list of what groceries you want to get. I have a list of the things we usually get so don't worry about that," I finished.
He nodded and excused himself to our bedroom. I continued watching the tv as I waited for him. It amazed me how knowledgeable Ali was about this show; I rarely knew what was happening.
Once he came back dressed and ready to go, I turned off the tv and got my shoes on. We left the house and started on our way to the store.
-
"I told you, it's okay. Get whatever snacks you want, really. I got a raise remember? We can afford it," I told him as he gazed upon the endless display of chips.
He was like a kid in a candy store. The man sure loved his snacks. I did too, of course. You couldn't go wrong with a bag of gummy worms. Or the Jeju orange candy, my absolute favorite. Korea had the best candy; compared to America anyway. So many different flavors to try.
"Okay, I'll choose these," he finally said, grabbing a bag.
I looked at him with a slightly irritated look, "get the big bag, Ali."
He nodded and put the small bag back, grabbing the bigger one. He was often worried about saving money. While I understood that, I wanted him to have what he wanted. If I had to work an extra hour so he could have his favorite food, sign me up. He deserved every desire he had and I planned on getting them for him. No matter how much he told me he didn't mind. I took every chance to get him gifts and in return, I got endless amounts of affection. That's all I really wanted anyway. His kisses made me feel on top of the world and his hugs made me feel the safest.
As we finished up our errands, I suggested we stop at a small book store. Once he agreed, we turned around to head there.
"I just want to get some more manga," I casually said, trying not to give away my plan.
"Can I give you some money for them? Since you bought me those snacks," he offered.
"No, it's okay. Save it for a rainy day, yeah? Now, I'll only be in there for a bit so you can stay out here. I promise I'll be quick."
I headed into the store and searched around for the book aisle. Not only was I getting some manga, but I was also getting him something as well. I had seen something online about them finally coming out with a boxset of his favorite show. Not to mention, this specific store had it on sale; it was like destiny. Picking out my books, I headed over to the display and picked them up, looking at them. Yep, this is the one; but it wasn't on sale anymore. Pulling out my wallet, I looked at my cash. I could either get the books or the show. I sighed and held onto the boxset, putting the books back. I could just get them another time. Once I bought it, I left the store to rejoin Ali. He questioned me about what books I had gotten but I deflected his question.
"I'm going to wash the clothes today so bring your dirty clothes to the washroom," I said as we walked home.
He asked me what I had again once we got home.
"Okay okay, I'll tell you."
I sat the bag down and pulled out his gift. His eyes lit up and he gently grabbed it from me.
"BABE NO WAY" he was almost jumping around, holding it tightly against his chest.
It made me smile seeing how excited he was.
"We could watch some of it tonight if you want," I suggested.
He set the box down and looked at me for a moment before suddenly picking me up, hugging me tightly.
"What did I do to deserve you," he asked as he spun me around, giving me one last squeeze before he set me down.
"Be you," I replied.
He leaned down to my level and brushed my hair out of my face. I blushed as he stared at me lovingly. The feeling of him rubbing his thumb on my cheeks caused goosebumps to appear on my skin. His hands were so soft and gentle. I leaned forward and connected my lips with his. His lips were soft too. Almost everything about him was soft. I was completely in love with this man and I wanted him to know that. He brought his hand up to my other cheek as if to remind me that he loved me too.
Okay soooooo I had a lot of fun writing this. HE'S JUST SO CUTE AND SOFT AND IT MAKES ME WANNA CRY
