This was the third time he had asked me to lend him money. I was starting to get annoyed with his promise of returns being broken every single time. Despite being scolded every time he asked, he still came back for more.
"No, I'm not giving you any more, Gihun," I said through my teeth.
"Babe, please. I just need a bit more and I'll have everything I owe you," he begged, pressing his hands together.
I turned around and shot him an annoyed look. He thinks he can come into MY house and ask for MY hard-earned cash. I leaned back against the kitchen counter and crossed my arms.
"I don't know if you noticed, but I need that money. I have my bills as well! I've also told you a thousand times to stop calling me that, we are not together."
What a pathetic guy. He knows I'm financially struggling yet he has the balls to ask for money. My blood boiled with every word he whined.
"(Y/N)," he chuckles awkwardly, "listen, I know that haven't paid you back yet but I'm working on it. I swear I'll pay you every cent back, I just need the 120k. Please..."
I stared at him for a moment, deciding what I should do. I could give him the money just to make him leave me alone... But he'd probably come back eventually. I also knew exactly what he was going to do with it. Gihun had a crippling gambling problem that he often denied, despite everyone knowing about it. Where else could he spend 100 million won and still be dirt poor? He wasn't spending it on new clothes; he still had on the same lilac shirt under his tan jacket with jeans and a blue cap. The clothes he's had since I've known him. And he definitely wasn't using it to take of himself. He looked borderline homeless. If it wasn't for his mother, he would be.
"No! Just shut up and leave me alone. I am trying to cook dinner, okay? I'm starving," I turn back around and resumed chopping the vegetables.
I felt his arms snake around my waist and his chin rest on my head. I tolerate a lot about him, but physical touch was not one of those things. I gave him a sharp elbow in the side causing him to let go with a whimper.
"Just because we used to date doesn't mean you are allowed to touch me, Gihun. I'm so tired of you thinking that the world revolves around you."
"Well, it's not like I'm the reason we broke up. You said that you were the reason. That you needed to work on yourself or something outlandish."
"I don't want to be with an irresponsible asshole," I snapped at him.
Relief washed over me when I heard the door close. Thank God. It had been a few years since we had dated. It was only for a couple of months but that's how long it took me to realize how much I despised his ignorant behavior. Some could overlook that for his constant affection and attention but I definitely couldn't. I was just as broke as I was currently. He was always asking for some sort of favor from me. It was overwhelming to have him depend on me that much. I can't really have anyone depend on me; that's why I like being alone.

It had been a week since I had last seen Gihun. I didn't bother to text him to make sure he was alive but he didn't text me either like he usually did. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried; this was not like him. I kinda missed him. Maybe not the annoying part but his presence was nice when he wasn't talking. I guess not being able to see him made me realize that I liked him a little. Picking up my phone while I was eating my dinner, I texted him.
(Y/N): hey, are you alive?
Gihun: come outside, i have something for you
I felt a little excited when I saw his reply. More than I'd like to admit. I did as he said anyway, meeting him outside. I almost didn't recognize him from how different he looked. His long brown hair was now short and bright red. His daily outfit had been replaced by an expensive-looking suit.
"...why do you look like that," I questioned him, slightly suspicious.
"I got that money I promised you!"
He had a giant smile plastered across his face as he handed me a bag. Looking in the bag, I felt my face heat up. It was all the money he owed me. Looking back up at him, I felt tears forming in my eyes.
"Gihun you..." I let out, trying not to cry.
The bag of money fell to the ground with a thud as I threw myself at him, squeezing him tightly.
"I thought you didn't like it when I touched you," he gently hugged me back.
"I'll make an exception just this once," I purred as I rubbed my cheek against his chest.
