I stared in awe at Charles’ family’s mansion which would be my new home. It was so beautiful! As Charles and Eric exited the car, they saw me staring out the window. “What do you think?” Charles asked me. “I-It’s amazing.” I stuttered as Eric opened the door for me. I hopped out of the car and pinched my left arm, “This has to be a dream.” Charles shook his head, “This house isn’t an illusion Nora. You can go inside if you want.” I smiled and pulled my dark amber-brown hair behind my left ear and entered the large mansion. I looked up to see a chandelier and a whole other level to the house. To my left and right were studies of sorts filled with shelf after shelf with books of all kinds. After I took all of this in, I heard a female voice come from a room upstairs, “Guys! Charles and Eric are back and I think they have someone new with them!” “No way Raven, I thought they stopped searching for mutants after Darwin died.” “Geez Havoc, you really need to lighten up!” I glanced over and saw Charles shaking his head. I bit my bottom lip, “They are others here too?” He nodded, “We have four others with us living here.” When the words came out of his mouth, four people, one girl and three boys, came down a central staircase and stopped when they saw me. A woman with blonde hair stepped forward first, “Hi I’m Raven but the others call me Mystique. What’s your name?” I shook her hand, “Nora. Why do they call you Mystique?” She then transformed from her blonde self into Charles, “I can turn into anyone and everyone.” I blinked, “That’s awesome!” Raven-Charles smiled and transformed back into her blonde state. A man with brown hair and glasses came up next, “I-I’m Hank.” Then a boy with really short blonde hair walked up to me, “I’m Alex but people call me Havoc.” I raised an eyebrow, “Why is that?” He smiled, “I can shoot energy rings out of my chest.” I gulped, “That’s a fitting name then.” Raven and Hank chuckled at my comment as another boy with curly dirty-blonde hair introduced himself, “I’m Banshee. I can scream so loud it’s supersonic.” I shook his hand, “Nice to meet you Banshee.” As soon as everyone was introduced, Raven cocked her head to the left, “So what can you do?”

I gulped, “W-Well, that’s a long story but let’s just say to save time I can do basically anything.” Hank looked at me odd, “Was does that mean?” At this point, I was getting really nervous. I never really liked people asking me about my powers because I knew that they would want to experiment on me. I then felt Charles’ hand on my shoulder, “It’s okay Nora. You can show off.” I exhaled slowly and stepped back from everyone and took off a leather jacket that I had been wearing before. Everyone’s eyes widened as a pair of pure white wings sprouted from my back. Then, I made a snowflake in my hand and blew it at the ceiling, making the flake multiply into tons of little snowflakes. I absorbed the snowflakes back into my hands and then teleported from in front of everyone to behind them. “So as you can see,” I said behind them making them jump, “I have almost every mutation in my DNA.” Hank stared at me in awe, “So can you do what we can? Can you transform like Raven and scream like Banshee?” I nodded, “I’ve never had to do either of those mutations. I usually only use telepathy and invisibility.” To show them that I could do what they could, I transformed into Hank and then back to myself again. Raven, Hank, Havoc, and Banshee stared at me, "That's awesome!" Banshee smiled. Charles clapped his hands together which made me jump, “Well, since you all have met Nora, we should get you to your room.” I nodded and waved to Eric, Banshee, Hank, and Havoc. Raven and Charles showed me to a room upstairs and down the hall to the left. “This will be your room.” Charles said as he opened the door.

It was just like my college dorm minus all of my personal belongings. I turned to thank Charles to only see that he was gone and out of sight. Raven smiled, “You like him don’t you?” I felt my cheeks blush a light pink, “No…” She shook her head, “I can see it in your eyes that you like him Nora. I’ve seen the way he looks at you too. Anyway, my room is across from yours so if you need anything I’m right across from you.” I smiled for the millionth time today, “Thank you Raven. Don’t say anything to Charles would you?” She winked and closed the door leaving me alone in my room. I sighed and sat down on the bed. I missed my dorm room a lot since it had all of my personal items that helped remind me of home. Then again, I really didn’t have that much of a home or a family. My mother was killed when Hitler was around and my father was still single. Last I heard from him he now lives in Cuba and is retired from all work. I also don’t have any siblings that I know of that is. I clenched my fists together in frustration and felt a few tears escape from my eyes. It was my fault, after all, that my mother, Jillian, was killed.

**Flashback**

I stood in front of Sebastian Shaw with my hands at my sides and clenched into fists. “All I need you to do Nora, is move the coin. It should be easier than moving that gate like that boy Eric did.” He said with a small smile on his face. I held out my right hand and stretched out my fingers, willing the coin to move but had no result. “It is too hard sir. I can’t do it.” I cried in defeat. He raised an eyebrow at me and sighed, “Maybe you will have better results with some motivation.” I then realized what he meant by that. He was going to bring out my mother. All I could do was stare as he brought out my mother and held a gun to her head, “I will give you five seconds to move the coin or your mother dies.” I stared at my mother, “You can do it sweetie. It’ll be alright.” She whispered as her voice cracked. Five, I reached out my hand to move the coin but it wouldn’t move. Four, I stretched my fingers out farther but with no success. Three, my vision became cloudy with my tears. Two, I gritted my teeth together as I attempted to move the coin again. One, I stuck out both of my hands as a last resort. I saw the coin shake lightly as I heard the bang of a gunshot. I fell to my knees and sobbed into my dirty brown dress. I had failed my mother by letting her die. I then felt the room around me shake as my anger increased at an exponential rate. Tables shook, files dashed out of cabinets, soldier helmets crushed their owner’s heads. I stood up to see Shaw smiling ear to ear and I screamed in rage.

**End Of Flashback**

It is about an hour later that I break out of my flashback and I start to sob. My jeans became soaked with my tears as I shrunk into a corner of the room. When the tears stopped coming, I heard two voices at the door, “She’s been like this for an hour Charles. I think there is something wrong.” “She might be reading or something like that Raven. I don’t want to interrupt whatever it is she is doing.” “She. Is. Crying. Charles. Can’t you hear that? At least read her mind!” “I can’t Raven! She is a telepath remember?” “She also is in pain by the sound of her sobs.” “I’ll talk to her then.” “Thank you.” I heard a faint knock at the door and I knew that it was Charles. “Come in.” I mumbled. He slowly opened the door and saw my red and wet face, “Are you okay Nora?” I shook my head as he sat next to me on the floor, “What is wrong Nora? Raven says you have been crying non-stop for the past hour.” I sighed as more tears escaped from my eyes, “I was remembering my mother. She was killed by a man who wanted to see my powers and use them for experiments.”  He rubbed my back as more sobs came out, “Who was that man if you don’t mind me asking?” “His name was Sebastian Shaw. I know now if I ever see him again, I’m going to kill him.” He paused for a second, “Well, you should know that we were recruiting mutants to find him and bring him into custody.” I was about to reply when Eric suddenly appeared at the door, “He doesn’t deserve to be in custody Charles, he’s going to die.” I blinked, “Why?” His jaw clenched in anger as he stared into my eyes, “You of all people Nora should know why I want him dead. He killed my mother the same way he killed yours and I’m going to avenge both of our mothers.”
