I could only pray that my mental barrier was string enough to prevent Charles from reading my mind since he sat right next to me. "Are you okay?" He whispered. I exhaled and nodded as I did so, "I just can't believe that we are going after Shaw. I don't feel ready." He took my hand and squeezed it lightly, "As I said last night Nora, you will be fine. If you ever get cornered or need help, every one of us will help." I smiled, mentally thanking Charles for his reassurance. The plane started up and we were flying above two fleets of opposing ships, America and Russia. "It looks pretty messy out there." Beast sighed as he leveled the plane over the ocean. I looked outside to see one ship between both of the fleets. Charles thought for a minute and put his index finger to his temple. A few seconds later, he spoke, "The crew of the Aral Sea are all dead. Shaw's been there." "He's still here, somewhere." Eric growled in irritation. Moira then spoke up, "If that ship crosses the line, our boys are going to blow it up. And the war begins." "Unless they aren't our boys." I exchanged looks with Charles. He knew that we had the same idea. He put his finger on his temple again and a rocket shot through the air. Beast swerved the plane to the right, making me nearly fall out of my restraints. "A little warning next time, Professor." Beast sighed as he leveled the plane again. "Sorry about that." He apologized to Beast before turning to me, "You all right?"
I nodded, "Yeah. I just read a soldier's thoughts. The Americans are applauding."

"That was inspired, Charles." Beast smiled.
"Thank you very much, but I still can't locate Shaw." Charles sighed.
"He's down there. We need to find him now." Eric ground his teeth as he spoke.
"Hank? Moira? Is there anything unusual on the radar or scanners?" I asked them.
"No. Nothing." Moira shook her head.
"Well, then he must be underwater. And obviously, we don't have sonar." Beast exhaled in slight frustration.
I glanced at Banshee, who was looking slightly smug. I read his mind and smiled along with him. "Yes we do." He spoke confidently. Charles picked up what Banshee meant, "Yes we do." Banshee, Charles, Eric, and I unstrapped ourselves. "Hank, level the bloody plane!" Charles yelled as the plane swerved to the right a tad. When the plane leveled, Banshee shouted, "Beast, open the bomb bay doors!" Eric went up to him and Banshee immediately turned to him, "Whoa! You back right off!" Eric stepped back with his hands up. As Banshee got ready to jump, Charles spoke to him, "Remember! This is a muscle. You control it! You'll be in here the entire time! We'll see you soon!" Banshee jumped from the plane into the cold blue water. Moments later, Charles smiled and turned to Eric, "Banshee has got a location on Shaw. Are you ready for this?"
"Let's find out." Eric sighed and they both jumped down onto the landing gear of the plane. Eric stuck out his hand and slowly but surely, a submarine floated out of the water and into the air. The weight was becoming too much for Hank to handle because the plane started to swerve again but in the direction of an island. "Eric, take my hand!" Charles yelled.
"Hold on, guys. It's gonna get bumpy." Hank growled as he attempted to level the plane again but to no avail.
"Eric, take Charles' bloody hand!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. As soon as those words came out of my mouth, Eric took Charles' hand and the plane jerked. I fell to the floor of the plane and slid out the bomb bay door, "Charles!" I screamed in terror. "NORA!" Charles yelled back as I fell farther and farther to the sandy island. Acting on pure instinct now, I flipped onto my stomach and let out a supersonic wave like Banshee does. The wave allowed me to level myself and I steered to the left. Little did I know, the submarine was now right on top of me. "Mom! Look out!" I heard my daughter scream in her mind. I looked up to see the submarine was falling and I with it. As I landed, the submarine almost crushed me. Instead of completely covering me, it only had a piece of metal stab me in the right arm. The plane landed next to me with minimal damage. I attempted to heal myself via one of my mutations but it was no use since the metal was still lodged into my arm.

It wasn't but a few moments later that I saw Charles and Eric running to my side. "Eric... Pull the metal out." I groaned as he carefully unlodged the metal from my arm. I breathed a sigh of relief as Charles helped me to my feet. My injury healed by itself almost instantly and I was ready to fight. "We have to find Shaw." I growled.
"I read the teleporter's mind. Shaw is drawing all the power out of his sub. He's turning himself into some kind of nuclear bomb. We got no time." Charles' voice cracked at the end.
"The Geiger count is going out of control." Moira sighed.
He turned to her, "Moira, this is what we're gonna do. Get on the radio and tell them to clear both fleets out immediately." She nodded and ran to the damaged plane.
"I'm going in." Eric muttered.
"Beast, Havok, back him up." Charles ordered.
Before he left, Charles pulled Eric to the side, "Eric, I can guide you through once you're in, but I need you to shut down whatever it is that's blocking me, then we just hope to God it's not too late for me to stop him." He nodded and I jogged right next to him as we entered the submarine. "What are you doing Nora? You could get yourself killed!" Eric chastised me. I stared into his eyes with a burning ferocity that I've never experienced before, "I'm going in there with you. I want to make Shaw pay for what he did to us and both of our mothers." He paused for a moment and nodded. We then entered the dreaded submarine.

*Eric's P.O.V*

When Nora and I entered the submarine, I couldn't help but feel an unwavering sense of uneasiness. We were going to find Shaw no matter what but, I was afraid what it might do to me and Nora. It might change us, for better or perhaps for worse. I then heard Charles speaking into my mind, "Eric, make for the middle of the vessel. That's the point my mind can't penetrate. We have to assume that that's where Shaw is." We opened a few doors and found ourselves in a study-like room. On the wall was a switch with nuclear levels printed on various levels. "That's the nuclear reactor. Disable it." I nodded to Nora and she flipped the switch. A noise hummed through the room. We must of shut down the reactor. As we looked around the study, I stopped at a door where Charles spoke to me again, "Eric, you're there. You've reached the void." Nora looked for a way to open the door, it was sealed shut. I sighed, "He's not here, Charles. Shaw's not here! He's left the sub!"
"What? He's got to be there! He has to be! There's nowhere else he can be. Keep looking." Charles' voice boomed in my head.
"And I'm telling you he's not. There's no one here, God damn it!" I yelled back.
"Eric..." Nora gulped. I turned around to see Shaw standing before us. I walked in with him and Nora.
"What a pleasant surprise. So good to see you again. May I ask you something? Why are you on their side?" He asked calmly, "Why fight for a doomed race who will hunt us down as soon as they realize their reign is coming to an end?" Angered by what he said, I pulled down metal beams that then separated us from Shaw.
"Yeah! Yes!" I heard Charles faintly.
"I'm sorry for what happened in the camps. I truly am." Shaw continued and walked towards Nora and I.
"He's back!" Charles yelled, "Eric, whatever you're doing, keep doing it. It's starting to work."
Shaw kept advancing even though Nora and I were pushing the metal towards him with all our might, "But everything I did, I did for you and Nora, the perfect siblings. To unlock your powers, to make you embrace it."
"It's working! I'm starting to see him, but I can't yet touch his mind." Charles beamed.
"You've both come a long way from bending gates and moving coins. I'm so proud of both you. And you're just starting to scratch the surface. Think how much further we could go together." Shaw pressed his hand against a piece of metal that pinned Nora and I against the wall. Nora let out a wheeze, she was being crushed to death.
"I don't want to hurt you, Eric. I never did. I want to help you and Nora to master your powers. This is our time. Our age. We are the future of the human race. You, me, and your sister. This world could be ours." He smiled. I gave him a sly smile as I maneuvered a wire to pull off his helmet, "Everything you did made me stronger. It made me the weapon I am today. It's the truth. I've known it all along. You are my creator. Now, Charles!" I yelled as soon as I got the helmet off him. Charles froze Shaw and I grabbed the helmet. "I can only control this man for so long." Charles said as he realized what I was about to do. "Sorry, Charles." I started to put on the helmet.
"Eric, please. Be the better man." Charles pleaded as I nearly put it on.
"It's not that I don't trust you." I said.
"Erik, there will be no turning back! No!" Charles' voice faded away from my head. I was going to love this helmet.
"If you're in there," I said to the frozen-version of Shaw, "I'd like you to know that I agree with every word you said. We are the future. But, unfortunately, you killed my and Nora's mother. This is what we're going to do." I pulled out a silver coin. Nora gasped, "No. Please, Eric, no."
"I'm going to count to three and I'm going to move the coin. One." I started counting.
"Please, Erik." I heard a faint plea from Charles.
"Two. Three." I shoved the coin through Shaw's brain. It was then that Nora, and Charles, started to scream in pain. As the coin moved to the back of Shaw's brain, I realized that both Charles and Nora were holding Shaw. I was basically killing Nora and Charles. The coin fell out the other side of Shaw's head and Nora teleported out of the submarine.
