I stood up and walked a few steps away from Eric. I filed my hands through my brown hair as the tears stopping flooding out of my red-rimmed eyes. "Are you ok?" He asked. I nodded, "I just need a little air." I rolled my shoulders and allowed my wings to appear from my back. He gazed at my wings, "You know how to fly those things right?"
"I've known how to fly "these things" since I could walk Eric. I just never really used them until I was in middle school." I chuckled as I stroked one of the white-feathered beauties that I called my own. I took a deep breath and launched myself into the air. The higher I went, the smaller and smaller Eric became. I finally stopped ascending when he was the size of an ant. I stopped flapping my wings and descended to the ground. I hooped and hollered as I fell towards the ground. At the last second, I spread my wings out and flew just past Eric and over the mansion. As I passed Eric, I saw him give a small smile which was good enough for me. When I made it passed the mansion, I saw Charles and Hank both in exercise clothing and talking to each other. I used my keen hearing to try to make out what they were saying. "If you truly want to beat me this time, you have to set the beast free." I heard Charles say as Hank took off his tennis shoes to reveal feet that resembled that of an ape's foot. I never knew that this was his mutation, I always thought it was something like super-intelligence or something like that. When they began running, I saw Hank steadily pick up speed until he was way past Charles and tap him on the shoulder about five minutes later. I smiled when they stopped and Charles said something to Hank that I couldn't understand.

I descended slowly to the ground and landed right behind them, "Good job Hank! I got to watch the whole thing from up there." I said as I pointed to the sky. He smiled, "Thanks Nora. How has your training been going?" I shrugged as I took flight again, "Not much. I only moved a satellite and flew till Eric was the size of an ant." He gaped as Charles patted him on the shoulder, "You will never cease to amaze us Nora." Charles chuckled lightly as Hank just stood there in awe. I smiled and winked at Charles before flying off to the front doors of the mansion. As I brought my wings back into my back as a tattoo, I felt a sharp pain in my mind. It was almost like the pain I shoot out during a nightmare. My vision blurred as I lost feeling in my legs. I fell onto the grass and yelped in pain. I looked down to see my legs were freezing solid like ice. My breathing accelerated as I remembered what was happening. I had pushed my mutation's limits so my body is forced to freeze up on itself and create new limits for itself. I call this process "over-stimulating". "CHARLES! ERIC!" I screamed as the ice built its way up to my chest. Charles and Eric ran to my side along with Hank trailing behind them. Charles saw the ice forming now up to my shoulders and panted, "What's happening to you Nora?" "I-I pushed my powers too much. My DNA is creating new limits for itself but... to do that my body freezes solid." I wheezed out as the ice crawled up my neck. "Can you stop it?" Charles asked desperately. I shook my head the best I could because the ice was freezing my chin. Before Eric and Hank could intervene, I was frozen solid. The last thing I heard was Charles yelling my name before all when black.
