Out of Sight Pt 1

(Prue's POV)

We were in a park for a birthday party, my daughter was playing on the grass by my feet. Pheobe said, "So what are you so afraid of?" Piper said "I'm not afraid. I'm not. I'm just not sure." I said, "Not sure of what?" Phoebe said "Josh. He wants to talk with Piper." I said "What talk?" she said "Three dates, no sex. There could only be one talk he's talking about. The talk. Safe sex, prior partners. Standard dating protocol." Piper said, "And sex equals relationship." I said, "And you're not sure you want to be a couple?" Piper said, "Well, it's not that I don't like him." 

Phoebe asked, "Then what's wrong with being a couple?" Piper said, "Well, I thought Leo and I were a couple and then we coupled and he took off." I picked up my baby kissing her cheek as I said "Yeah, well, men seem to have a different definition of coupling than women do." Phoebe said, "I do not think that's why Leo left." Dee is our friend and the mom to the birthday boy she walked up and rubbed Penny's cheek with her finger making her giggle as Dee said "Hey, Prue." I said, "Hey, Dee, how are you?" Piper looked down at the birthday boy and said "Hey, how's the party going?" David said "Great. We're playing Squish the Squash and nobody's been able to catch me. Is the cake ready?" 

Piper said, "Uh, yeah, give us about five minutes." David ran off saying "Awesome. Hey guys, five minutes until the cake." Dee said "Thanks for doing all this, Piper. I never would have been able to afford it." Piper said "Hey, what are friends for? Besides, it's worth it just to see the look on David's face." Phoebe said, "He's a great kid." My phone rang so I stepped away to answer it and it was my boss calling me in. I sighed "Well baby girl, looks like mommy has to work." I walked back over and said "So much for my Saturday off. That was Claire. Something at the auction house needs to be appraised, so I gotta go. I'm so sorry." Piper said, "Are we taking Penny, or is Andy?" I said "I'll drop her off with Andy, so she can get some daddy/daughter time." the three of them said "Bye."

I started to walk to my car when I saw David chase a ball when something grabbed him. He screamed "Help! Let go of me!" I ran toward them holding Penny tight I said "David, no!" I put my hand up and they flew into the air, it shocked me so I stared at my hands. David screamed "Help! Help! Let go of me! Help me!" I ran after them till the thing jumped in a hole that closed after it. Cops were called and I joined my sisters, the sirens had made Penny cry and so I was currently rocking her to sleep. Phoebe said, "What did you tell them?" I said, "That I saw a creature with whirling eyes take David."

Phoebe said, "And what did he say?" I said "What did you think he said? He thought I was nuts." she said "Yeah, well, it turns out David's not the first one to be taken. An inspector told me that another boy disappeared yesterday in the same spot." I held my daughter tighter and said "A demon who steals kids. Does it get any worse?" she said "Uh, yeah, apparently it also happened twenty years ago. the Same park, two kids." I said "Did they ever find the kids?" she said, "I don't know." I said "You know, I could've saved him." she sighed "Prue, don't go there." I said "No, I was just so surprised and I looked down at my hand and..." she said "It was the first time you channeled your power through your hand. Give yourself a break. Your power's growing."

I said "Yeah, I just hope no one saw me." she said "Okay, well, look on the bright side, you won't have to squint your eyes anymore. You were starting to get those little lines." Piper walked up and Phoebe said, "So, how's Dee doing?" Piper said "Not good. It's very frustrating not being able to tell her who we are and how we can help." I said, "Yeah, well, the sooner we get to the Book of Shadows the sooner we can get David back home." Phoebe said "An albino demon with whirling eyes sounds like a whole chapter to me." my phone rang and I sighed "I forgot about the appraisal." Piper said "Uh, it's okay, just go. Phoebe and I will look in the book and we'll call you if we find anything." I said, "Are you sure?" Phoebe said "Don't ya just hate cell phones? Always out of range." she hung up my phone and I said, "Call me." I called Andy after I had her buckled into her car seat. 

A: This is Detective Trudeau.

P- Andy, hey it's Prue, I got called into work and my sisters are busy can you take Penny?

A- I'm at work Prue.

P- Don't give me that crap Andy, you're always at work. You haven't seen her in weeks, which is amazing since she is only 3 months old. Look, Andy, I get it, your a detective. But your daughter comes first and I need your help. If I get fired for not coming in there goes all the money that is provided for her. So please let me drop her off with you.

A- Alright, Prue, you can bring her to the station.

He hung up on me and I sighed "Time to spend time with daddy." I had just pulled up to the station so I grabbed her car seat and covered it with a blanket so she had one and headed to the door. Andy had two coffees in his hand but he still took her car seat and said "Go to work Prue, I got her." I kissed her little head before going to work.

(Andy's POV)

I took my daughter from Prue, I already had the captain's approval, so I headed back to my desk and said "Anything on the night sheet?" I handed him his coffee and set the car seat down as Morris said "Medical examiner. Thanks. Sent this over. It's Jerry Cartwright. A saint. Donated millions to the city's anti-drug program. Why do you have a car seat?" I said "It's my daughter. M.E.'s saying he was murdered?" Morris said "Unless we tell him otherwise. He's listing the C.O.D as strangulation. The problem is the man died in the middle of a crowd of people and nobody saw anyone lay a hand on him." I sighed and grabbed Penny from her seat. A man came in and said "Inspector Trudeau." I said "Ohh..." and turned to face him as he said "Eric Lohman. Bay Weekly."

Morris said "He's all yours." and left, I said "I know who you are. What do you want?" he said "Um, a cup of coffee would be great. Okay. What do you say I pick your brain about Prue Halliwell. Name ring a bell? It should. Her name keeps popping up in a lot of your murder cases. A lot of the unsolved ones." I said "Is that a fact?" he said "I've got my sources. Cops love to talk. Especially if you pay them enough." I said "Get the hell outta here." as I rubbed my baby's back, she was almost asleep. He said "So, I assume you know all about Prue's unusual powers, right? Boy, that stopped you cold." I said, "I don't know what you're talking about."

He said "Yeah, right, that's what she said too. Did you two rehearse your stories or what? I saw her in action in the park, Trudeau. She was holding that baby when she waved her hand and magically suspended that David Hatcher kid and his kidnapper in midair. It was, it was very cool. I just wish I had my camera. Care to comment?" I said "No." he said, "Okay, I'll just change my story to a police cover-up instead." I said "I'm not covering up anything." he said "Really? Great. Then I guess you got nothing to worry about. Just remember, I gave you a chance to work with me." Morris said, "What was that about?" I said "Nothing. You're gonna have to handle the M.E. case on your own." Morris said "Why? Where are you going?" I said, "I'm assigning myself to the kidnappings."
