You and Charlie have been together for almost three years now and to celebrate your three-year mark he was taking you to somewhere in upstate New York as there was a particular lake house he had always wanted to visit. The lake house could be rented out to families and couples who are interested in weekend getaways, vacations, honeymoons, or any other exciting event. Charlie thought it would be great to rent it out from Friday until Monday and planned on it being the best long weekend ever.

You were tired after the long flight but Charlie said you could sleep in the rental car or wait until you were both at the destination so you could nap together. This was a secret so you had no idea where you were exactly going and just thought you and Charlie would be spending your long weekend in some fancy hotel in the city.

Charlie hired a rental car at the airport and then drove for a little bit, making a quick pit-stop at a small grocery store before beginning the main journey. During the drive, you managed to stay awake, noticing Charlie kept driving further and further away from the city which made you wonder where the hell he was going and of course, you decided to be nosey and ask him.

"Hey Charlie, where are we going exactly?"

"I thought you'd ask that. Daddy has a surprise for you."

Charlie removed one hand from the steering wheel and took your hand bringing it up to his soft lips where he kissed your knuckles tenderly while he kept his eyes on the road.

"Really?! Ugh, but you know I hate surprises." You pouted softly which made a sly grin appear across Charlie's lips.

"This will be worth it baby, trust me." Charlie smiled. "Just be patient, we're going to be there in just under an hour now." He spoke reassuringly and then rested his hand on your thigh which he couldn't help but squeeze it softly making you giggle.

You looked out of the window and noticed nothing but trees and more road ahead, the leaves were red, yellow and orange and some were even falling off the tree. You were so excited to find out where Charlie was taking you, thinking that this definitely seemed more exciting than staying in the noisy, busy city for the long weekend.

One of Charlie's favourite things to do was to spoil you and make you happy, you both hardly ever had arguments but when you would argue he hated it. One of his fears was losing you and you were aware of this, but you would always be there to reassure him that it was never going to happen.

"Alright, we're here."

Suddenly, Charlie pulled you out of your thoughts. You didn't even feel the car coming to a stop as you were too mesmerised by looking at the lakes from the car window completely not noticing the stunning rustic-looking lake house that sat just a few feet away from the water.

Upon getting out of the car, you lightly jogged towards the lake to take in the view and your other new surroundings before turning back to look at Charlie who was taking a moment for himself.

"Charlie, this place looks so beautiful! This is so much better than a hotel room in the plaza."
