The Logan family were having one of their small Summer gatherings in Mellie's backyard which included basically all of the Logan family along with Sylvia and Joe Bang who were the partners of Jimmy and Mellie. From the kindness of her heart, Mellie invited you around to her house which you accepted because you couldn't wait to see your best friend and her family.

Especially her older brother, Clyde.

When the day of the family gathering came along, you strolled along the path on the way to Mellie's house wearing your red sundress which had a pattern of daisies over it along with your cardigan draped over your arm. Mellie had already told you to go through to the backyard as said in her text so you did exactly that.

Hearing the chatter and the sounds of laughter, you opened the garden gate and then suddenly, all eyes were on you as you walked through. Mellie immediately screamed in excitement, running towards you where she threw her arms around you, almost making you drop the booze you were holding.

''Woah! Mells, we saw each other two days ago.'' You laughed as she let go, taking the bottle of alcohol from your arms.

''I can't handle an hour without my best friend, come on in everyone's waiting!''

You and Mellie linked arms and then walked towards everyone, your eyes immediately landing on Clyde, giving him a friendly smile. You hoped you looked alright, and that your makeup wasn't smudged or that your dress wasn't accidentally tucked into your panties.

But surely not. Mellie would've told you otherwise.

Suddenly Joe gestured over to Mellie that he needed her for something which made her give you one of her looks telling you that she would be back in a minute but told you to go say 'hi' to everyone as she jogged away on over to Joe.

You had absolutely no problem with that at all, skipping on over to Clyde with a smile on your face, feeling excited about seeing your good ole favourite southern boy.

''Hi, Clyde! How are you?'' You giggled, wrapping one arm around him to give him a side hug.

Clyde always chuckled whenever you hugged him, it made his heart burst with how sweet and kind you always were to him.

''Hi, darlin. I'm good...missed you at Sadie's party. Just wasn't the same without you.'' Clyde responded, wrapping his good arm around you so he could hug you.

''Yeah, I feel bad I missed her party but I'm all better now. No more sickness.''

''Well, I'm glad to hear it, beautiful.''

''You always call me that.''

You felt your cheeks becoming warm, along with Clyde's hand resting just perfectly on your lower back. His warm eyes gazed down at you and you could have sworn he was looking directly down at your lips.

You were wearing a shade of red lipstick today and he really loved that particular shade.

''It's because you are beautiful, darlin. I hope you know that.''

Just as you opened your mouth to answer you heard your name being called followed by a pair of small arms wrapping around your legs which made you look down to see Sadie who looked so ecstatic to see you.
