Chapter 3

Meanwhile, Emily's parents, Monica and Nokia have returned home. The therapist is undecided to tell them about Emily's progress. Emily on the other hand doesn't remember her parents and their rules. She doesn't remember her parents actually at all. She thought they would love to hear she's starting to remember at all. So earlier Emily had gone thru some high school pictures and found one of Paul and her on the day of graduation. As she approached her parents, she handed them a picture of her and Paul.

Emily's words were slurred as she try to tell her parents she remembered Paul. When they saw the picture, their first thought was, who is this young man? They then looked closer and realized it was the high school quarterback. They then remembered they didn't allow Emily to be among

Disadvantage students. Because everyone knew Paul was from across the tracks, her parents felt that does children of the poor had no future and weren't great role models for those of the higher class, wanted  Emily to have nothing to do with those children.

They realized that for reason she remembered Paul. The therapist was about to leave for the day when he was called to join them in the family room. They then questioned him about the picture.

The therapist knew he had to tell them of Paul's visit, especially since Emily had alarmed them. I don't understand while this young man didn't want me to speak of him visiting, he said. I wanted to surprise you both. Isn't it great news, he asked?

Emily's parents faked their joy and smiles. Emily's mother gave her a hug. She then called the therapist to the side and said to him. Don't ever let that young man in my house again, or you're being fired. Yes mam I understand said the therapist, as he left. Wondering what was that all about.

Emily's parents from that moment on felt that they didn't know their daughter as well as they thought. All these years they thought Emily was on the same page they were. So they choose to dig deeper into Emily's past, by going thru her personal things. When they discovered all the letters that Paul had written Emily, they were shocked. they notice the letters stopped when she was hospitalized.

Paul and Dr.Mitchell waited a few weeks to hear back from Dr.Reed.Knowing he was a busy man, they didn't want to take out of his work time. So they invited him to dinner to speak of the matter. Again Dr.Reed refuse the invitation. By now Paul and Dr, Mitchell or more concerned about what happened to Emily.

Dr.Reed is certain that Paul and Dr.Reed are not gonna give up until they get answers. After meeting with the two of them the first time, and became nervous. He left in the middle of their meeting, claiming he had been called on a more urgent matter, he actually went to medical records and Altered Emily's file.

He changed her baby's medical records to be exact. He knew how dangerous that is, but he couldn't allow them to be able to trace the child back to him.

Dr.Reed had given up trying to conceive with his wife. It meant everything to him to have a child of his own. When Emily came into the emergency room, and her condition worsened, by falling into a coma, he knew she was a strong healthy woman, and her only problem was, she wasn't conscious. He immediately put her care in his hands. He didn't know when she would awake. He made sure she was out of any danger before he decided to go ahead with his plan.

As a Doctor of skills, he found the time that Emily would be ovulating. He then made sure no one was around, and he crawled into her hospital bed . He did this every chance he had, while she was in a coma. That is until he got the results he wanted. Two months later, Emily was showing signs of pregnancy.

The staff at the hospital all heard of Emily's condition. There were concerns, about her and the baby's health. Dr.Reed treated Emily as a priority. His wife notice he had lost interest in them having a child. The subject had long come up. She had no idea that her husband has conceived with another woman.

Dr. Reed finally meets with Paul and Dr.Mitchell. He explains his findings of Emily's condition. I was hoping the father would have been advised of her condition and come forward, he said to Paul and Mr, Mitchell.

Has she had a visit from any young man? asked Paul, while in her coma. If not that's telling me , she was violated here in your hospital sir. And we should alert the authorities, and start a full investigation. Paul then asked with much concern, How do her parents feel about it? And where is the child? Paul asked.

Dr. Reed then handed Paul and Mr.Mitchell Emilys file. I don't have the time to pursue such a matter. So here are the medical records of both Emily and her child.

Paul saw that Dr.Reed had very little interest in finding out what happened to Emily. Dr. Reed then left and said, I hope you find what you're looking for. As he walked off, He was feeling confident that he had gotten in front of Paul and Mr.Mitchell, by altering the baby blood type, in the records.

What he didn't know is Paul had retrieved the records, before it was brought to his attention, and taken photos of each page. When Paul and Mr, Mitchell went to the board and asked for an investigation, including all male employees on staff, for and DNA sample, to determine who fathered Emily's child. The board gave them the go-ahead. They then went to the authorities and they started their investigation.

Paul gave the police the file that Dr.Reed gave him. he kept his own copy. Paul later called the detective in charge to get an update on Emily's case. The officer was very helpful. He explained that every male employee has been swabbed except Dr.Reed.The results would be in tomorrow, said the detective.

Paul found it strange that Dr. Reed didn't do the swab test. He's more suspicious now of Dr.Reed.

The following day Paul downloaded a photo of Dr.Reed.He then printed it out, fold it, and put the picture in his pocket. He then decided to pay Emily a visit. Not knowing the therapist has been told not to invite him in again.

Paul makes it to Emily's house, and before he could get up the walkway good, the therapist ran out and shouted, No sir you're not welcome here. I need you to get back in your car and leave, please.

Ok, I will leave said Paul, but first promise me you give this photo to Emily, it's a picture of her Doctor. It could help her connect things.

The therapist had no idea what was going on. He didn't even know Emily has a baby. No one in the neighborhood knew. Emily's parents had no idea how to explain her having a child, to anyone. The cousin who has the child understands that Emily is not to see nor know of the baby.

I quest I could do that for you, but you have to go before I get fired, said the therapist. He then took the paper as he looked around very nervously. By the way, how's the baby doing asked Paul. Excuse me said the therapist. The baby, Emily's baby, said Paul.

You must be thinking of someone else dude, there's no baby in that house, said the therapist. Oh yeah, You right I was thinking of another friend said, Paul. While driving away from Emily's house

A thousand thoughts were running thru Pauls's mind. He knew he had to get to the bottom of this. He desperately needed to talk to Emily. But how was he to get past the therapist? There has to be a way to contact her. Then he thought about how he communicated with Emily while being overseas.
