A/N: Video by wesleygs157 on YouTube. Song doesn't really go with chapter but I love it so.....
I shifted back into my hybrid form as I watched Britt dress into her work clothes. More energized than I had been in months. I felt invincible, well more invincible than I already was. I had to hand it to the female, she knew how to sate my appetite, humping my body as if she was a professional at the skill of seduction when she was completely untried. She would not be for long. I would own her sexual spirit soon enough.
If she had been anyone else, I would have taken it from her instantly, forgoing all foreplay. I could not do that to her, no matter how angry I was about her initially rejecting me. She had paid for her mistake, as I took my anger out on her ass the previous night. I would do so again, if she defied me, which I was sure she would. Maggie liked having her pretty ass spanked. It made her perversely wet. The proof was still spread on my body, cock, and hands. I would leave it. I wanted everyone to know who she belonged to and who was her master.
Maggie left the room and I followed, not wanting to miss the chance to aggravate my prey once more. Sending enchanted chills through her body, she stopped. "This again, Bull-boy?" I stood directly behind her as I whispered in her ear, "You could always stay home today, scrumptious morsel. I would love to show you how I can please you without even touching you." Her enticing scent hit me immediately. I was sure I had her persuaded. Instead, she turned and headed out the door, leaving me truly alone. My prey was indeed my perfect match, persisting in so many of the same ways as I.
I assumed she needed time to cool down, and I would allow it. Truth was I needed time away, too. It was all too much, a connection so full of power, one I had never felt before in my five hundred years. Never had I been unable to pull-away or leave myself in such a state of want. Normally, I would have gotten what I desired and been done with it. This time was proving much more difficult. It felt like I needed so much more, addicted in such a way that was not typical for my kind. I had some research to do.
Leaving again on such short notice was harder to do the second time, but I left, promising that I would return that night to finish what I had started. It took much too long to reach my destination, four hours to be exact. When I reached the demon's residence, I halted. I had known Brothan, for half of my life. The demon, a century older than I, was normally one to be trusted.
Still, I had to consider that coming here put me and the female at risk. As a Minotaur, a monster in my own right, I was not always trustworthy, but demons were on a whole different level. Though, I would do anything in my power, to gain what I wanted, I was always forthcoming with that information. Demons on the other hand, were not. Some would trick beings in any way possible to get what they sought. I had to approach the situation with care. I would not put Mags in danger with anyone, but me.
The male sensed me before I had the opportunity to request entrance into his home, meeting me at the door. "Xorn, nice to see you, old friend. How are you? To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit? "Any other demon as powerful as he would have had my life-force for visiting without warning, not Brothan. He always was welcoming.
"Hello, Brothan. Can a male not visit his demon friend without reason.", I lied through my teeth. I wanted something and he easily spotted my untruth. "No, you do not. So, tell me minotaur, what is the reason you have sought me out?", he said as he led me inside.
Deciding to approach the topic head-on, I questioned, "Fine. I will cut straight to the chase. Have you ever known of one of our kind to bond or become tethered to one of the living?" Glancing at me knowingly, Brothan eyes held a sadness I had never seen on a demon before. "Of course, I have. Why do you think I remain here alone, never roaming and causing mass destruction like the others do? I lost my beloved, the human I bonded to, years ago. The bond you speak of, it is a blessing and a curse." I felt a sensation of remorse for the male, something I had never experienced before, maybe because now I had something I would hate to lose, though I would not call it love.
Brothan spoke to me of his time with his female, Ida, how at first, he solely wished to own her soul, something made possible when she sold it to him in exchange for her dying brother's life. Somewhere down the line, he fell for her, erasing her debt, keeping her close to him. "We had sixty-five wonderful years together. Until her, I never knew monsters like us could earn the chance to experience love, didn't know I wanted it until she came into my life." I had never heard one of our kind speak so sentimentally. It was weird. Speaking once more, Brothan broke me from my thoughts, "Why is it you wish to know about this, Xorn? Falling for a human?" Laughing sadistically, I quickly responded, "Of course not, you old fool. I was merely curious if it was possible. Now, how did you maintain a relationship with such little time, you know since we can only physically interact with one another in the light?"
"Oh, yes that was an issue, but there was always a loophole for it, if you wanted it bad enough. Most of us spend too much of our time causing mayhem to truly understand why we are here. It is not to bring about unnecessary destruction, but to find a way to coexist. Monsters feed on humanity. We suck them dry through all sort of energy exchanges whether it be through murdering them, seducing them, or tricking them in some other fashion. Then they found a way to avoid us, only coming out in the day, when we are at our most vulnerable. It was in our best interest to find another way, but most of us are still too blind to see. We can get what we want without the mass destruction. We can all take what we need from one another, but the evil in most of us is too great. It will not allow us to cease what we feel we were made to do."
I interrupted, getting bored of his windy explanation I felt unneeded. "Yeah, yeah. Get to what I need... I mean what you had to do to overcome the daylight obstacle, old man." I realized my slip too late. He was onto me. "It's okay, Xorn. I know a female has enticed you. I can smell her on you. I won't keep you long. There are two ways to be able to stay with your female and maintain your physical form. You can drain more of your female's essence each day, giving you more power to sustain your physical presence, but beware it will shorten her lifespan. Or you can turn her immortal, like you. There is a danger in that too, however, for one never knows if a person will remain the same when immortal." I spoke a little more with the wise male, before parting ways to return to my prey.
I was at a crossroads. I did not know what I was going to choose to do. I either drained her force faster, taking years off her life, or made her an immortal, without know the long-term consequences. With anyone else, I would have ended her life from the start, draining the spirit with which I so deeply craved. I could not, so it seemed I had an important decision to make. For the first time in my eternity, I considered giving my prey a choice, but could I truly make that kind of sacrifice?
