I sunk to the ground, hanging onto the beast, terrified of him being truly gone. "Why did I have to run off? You warned me, Xorn and I still left. Now, look at you, dying because of me. Why didn't you just let me go?" I was angry at the dead bird beast for attacking me, irritated at Xorn for getting himself hurt defending me, and even madder at myself for running in the first place. Creeping over to make sure the female monster, Zora, was really dead; I kicked her hard just to make myself feel a little better.

At that very moment, I heard the cries, more like squawks, of what I assumed was the bird beast's babies. I had only gained a small glimpse at the evil little creatures, but something terrible must have been near, for them to make such an alarming sound. They had not made a sound when I got close, unworried of the small human female their mom wanted to make their meal.

"Xorn, come on, wake up, please! We've got to go now, bull-boy!" I tried my best to pull his body, thinking of where would be best to hide. It was no use I could not move him, and I would not leave him. Sensing another monster lurking near, I ran to the nearest bush, crouching behind it, hiding as much as was possible. "OH MY GOD! It can't be!" Standing next to Xorn's body, was a huge black demon.

He was at least three or four inches taller than Xorn, and his shiny red horns had to be two times the size of my minotaur's. His anatomy matched that of a human male, but he was unbelievably muscled, having an eight pack and huge biceps and triceps with sharp, long claws grew on both his hand and feet. He was a true visual nightmare, baring his hideously jagged fangs. My eyes wandered past his bare chest to his waist, he was completely nude. His lucid cock hung down, almost the length of his whole thigh. "Why are you staring, Maggie? He'll probably destroy you, leaving your body mangled with that very monstrous appendage."

Swiftly, he lifted Xorn off the ground, tossing him over his shoulder as if he weighed nothing. He had to be incredibly strong to tote the male, who was close in size. "Come, sweet little human. I will not hurt you. I am a friend." I was not sure if I could trust the male. Xorn had mentioned a demon-friend, but what if this was a completely different being, and he was just luring me to my doom. For a while, I refused to give up my hiding spot. I did not want to be victim to another beast.

"How can I trust you? I know how tricky demons are." Maybe speaking out was not my best option, but I had no choice. He was going to take Xorn, and I did not want to be alone anymore. "I am Xorn's oldest friend, Brothan. I know all about you and your mate. When you both did not arrive when I expected you, I came looking for you. It appears I found you just in time female. Now, make haste. We do not have time for nonsense. The other monsters will be drawing in once they scent you here."

Leaving my hiding spot, I surrendered. "Fine, I will come, but I am not his mate. I am more like his plaything, or as he likes to call me, his prey. What about the babies? Are we going to leave them defenseless?" Laughing a menacing chuckle, the demon spoke once more, "Why, no, of course not. I ate them, but rest assured it was a very quick and painless death. Now, come." I stalled,

"What friendly beast eats helpless little babies?" Irritated at my time-wasting, Brohan replied, "They were not helpless or innocent, Maggie. They would have eaten you, given the chance, and they, like their mothers, lure and eat small children. Now, for the last time, let us go. You are wasting precious time." I could not argue with that and did not even attempt it. "Wait! Did I say that aloud?" The demon just laughed and walked away.

Finally, I followed the demon, moving away from the scene of Zora's death feeling no guilt in the beast being slayed. She had a chance to walk away. "They really lure and eat small children?" Brohan continued walked, saying nothing, only shaking his head up and down in answer. The trip remained this way, eerily silent, for hours as we walked. It was tough to keep up with Brohan, as he took larger steps than I, even though he was carrying a beast the size of a bull. I managed to stay close to the male, not wanting to become prey to another. It was rare to find a monster that did not want to eat me right away. I knew I would not be so fortunate to escape with my life once more.

When it felt like my legs would give up on me, a beautiful, large, undamaged home came into view. "Is that your house, Brohan?" It was magnificent, large, made of light gray cobblestone and red brick with several windows covered in black shutters and glass double doors. "How do you manage to keep such a lovely home, when the monsters destroy anything in their path?" The house was fit for royalty, especially since most homes now were decrepit, damaged, and plain eyesores. Even the area around his home was nicely well reserved and lush with vegetation.

"Oh, no one bothers me. They know who resides here. Welcome to my Manor, Maggie. I hope you enjoy your stay." he stated as he opened the door, ushering me inside. He had to be extremely powerful for no one to pester him at all.

On the inside, the home was just as grandiose. The floors were all real hardwood, walls painted a cherry red, and the rooms were decorated in the plushiest, modern black furniture, and stainless-steel appliances, though I doubted the beast need the extremities. Once in the sitting room, Brohan tossed Xorn to the floor directly in front of a cozy fireplace already lit with a warming fire. "Hey. You didn't have to throw him so hard!" Xorn was wounded enough as it was, he was he to put him through more pain. "Don't worry, Maggie. He will be okay. He just needs to sleep it off. That Cretu poison can be a bitch."

"He's been asleep for hours, Brohan. Shouldn't he be up by now?" I worried for him. "What if he doesn't wake up? I will never forgive myself if he doesn't!" Rubbing my shoulders gently, Brohan looked me in my eyes. I felt the worry drift from my body. "Do not worry yourself, Maggie. I promise he will be okay. Why don't you take a shower, and get something to eat from the kitchen? I still stock up on human favorites, my darling Ida, enjoyed."

He was right. I had to keep hope. I know he would not protect me, only to leave me alone. Making my way upstairs, I took a quick detour, glancing quickly into all the rooms, but one that was locked. They all were decorated the same, red walls and black furnishes. "Well, I know what Brohan's favorite colors are. Wonder what he keeps locked up in his secret room?"

After a quick shower, I felt restored. Brohan's water temperature and pressure were amazing. I stopped in the kitchen and grabbed a quick bite to eat, not able to believe that the monster devil carried sandwich meat and chips, polishing it off pretty quickly. I entered the sitting room as Brohan whispered to himself. Just as I was going to inquire what he was speaking of, Xorn came to. He leaped up, roared, looking straight in my direction, and I knew I was in big trouble.
