Disadvantage 11 - Even though you are 'awesome', a slip of hand and you are burning holes.
"Beck, I'm really proud of you, you know that ? My little baby is all grown up and so graceful. Oh my god, I'm so excited to see you on stage. Don't think much just give your best." Mum says while kissing my forehead and crushing me into a very tight hug. Oh mother.
"You'll see me in few hours mom." I say stifling while mother dearest shows no signs of breaking away the hug.
"Precisely 4."
Finally taking the initiative, I break the hug. "Thanks mom. Really. But it's just a competition. Lets save it for the time when I move out, yeah ?"
"You'll be moving out ? When ? Why don't I know ? Why haven't we talked about this ?" Her eyes widen and she gives me an incredulous look.
"Mom .." I warn.
"Yeah okay, okay. Break a leg Beck."
I turn away from the car and run down to the entrance of our school. Showing the security guard a note written by Mrs. Hooch, he allows me into the building. I sprint to the rehearsal hall cradling my bag in arms.
And the hall is empty. Great. Mrs. Hooch asked us to be here by 3 in the noon. I look for my phone in the back pockets of my jeans and don't find it. But I'm sure it isn't a minute past 3.
The door opens and Mrs. Hooch comes inside the hall, Alan beside her.
"Oh. There you are Beck." She says and turns towards Alan. "You won the bet. Glad you won."
"Well of course I did. The first time I actually met Ala, she was fretting about me not being punctual for the rehearsal. Punctuality is her thing." He says while looking at me with a smile.
Why is he so cute ?
"Noon to you too Madam Hooch and Alan." I wish them with my eyebrows touching the hairline. Okay I exaggerated.
"We'll be leaving for the Central Auditorium in 5 minutes. It will take us about 20 minutes to reach there. Upon reaching you both are not going to waste a single minute. Enter your green room right away. The competition will start at 6 and by then you both have to be absolutely ready." Mrs Hooch explains. "and Alan, where is Racheal ? You both have not even tried your costumes once." She asks urgently.
He gives her a blank look. "I don't know. I talked to her in the morning, she was at the boutique yelling at the tailors. Ask Ala."
"Al- Beck, you know where she is ?" She demands.
"I'll just call." I murmur and move a bit away.
"Don't call her Ala. She is 'Beck'." I hear Alan getting reprimanded.
"She is Ala. I like Ala." He replies defensively.
By 'Ala' he means your name Beck. How stupid. You did not really think he likes you. Remember, he doesn't date ?
As if on cue, I hear a rather raspy voice of Rain. "Ala ? You've reached the school ?"
"And you're not here till now. Mrs. Hooch is getting panicky about the costumes and you."
"How do you know ?" She questions rather dumbly.
"I don't know man maybe she fucking asked ?" I reply while rolling my eyes. Just 'cause she can't see my eye roll doesn't mean I won't do it.
She giggles "Tell her to calm it. I'll straight away reach the auditorium by 3:30. You both start with hair and make up till then."
"Will tell. See you soon then." I reply looking up to Alan and Madam Hooch.
