Chapter 27 | Just The Two of Us

Next day. It's almost seven and just in time that you finished dressing yourself in your casual attire. You know that there will be a problem before you even got to get out.

You knock on Wilhemina's office door before you open it. "Miss Venable?" Then peaking your torso to look if she's in.

"Yes, sweetheart?"

As you see her at her table, you go inside and stand by the door. "Are you going somewhere?" Questioning you as she scans your outfit.

Your head nods slowly "Yes, I'm going out with Nikki and the girls." Lying your way as you ask for her permission because you know that she will not let you out if you say the truth. "They want to celebrate my birthday."

Her impression is unimpressed as always, she just eyes you while thinking of her decision. "Be back at midnight." Wilhemina goes back to her business on her purple laptop right after she responds.

"Thank you, Miss Venable. I will." Then you leave her office to proceed on your cabriolet at the garage. After you hop in, you start the engine and drive off to Lana's house.

Minutes of driving, you park in front of her lawn. You get out and strut your way into her front porch before ringing the doorbell. Seconds later, she opens her door and still looks stunning as ever. "I hope I'm not late."

Lana beams a bright smile as her eyes are connected with yours. "No, you're early actually. The movie starts at eight so we still have a lot of time."

She grabs something behind the door and she's handing you a guitar with a red ribbon below its headstock. "Happy birthday again, (y/n). I try to find a guitar that suits you so here it is." Handing you her present as she steps out of her house.

You gasp in surprise while you retrieve it then hug her while she was locking her door. "Thank you." Soon realizing that you're hugging her from behind so you take a step back and tilt your head sideways in confusion when you remember what she said. "Movies? Are we going out?" Asking questions while you follow her down her porch.

Lana lets out a little chuckle as she sees how confused you are. "Yes, I decided to see a movie." Then her eyes set on your car. "Oh, so you have a car now?"

You march towards your car and unlock it by pushing the button on your car keys. "Yeah, do you want to ride this or should we take yours?" Your head faces Lana again.

She strides towards your car, next to you. "I wanna experience your new car, of course. I'm fine with this." Your friend jokes so you open the door of the passenger side to let her in.

After she slides in, you put the guitar on the backseat then run to the other side to get in as well before you drive off to the location she said. It was a drive-in movie. She's right, you're early for the movie but some short films are being played just to test the projector. The movie starts a few minutes later.

A few drops of water fall down so you look up to the sky and they keep on coming. So you push the button to put the roof of your car then it starts to rain so hard. The rain was so strong that they had to stop the film because it affects the view of the audience.

With no choice left, you leave the drive-in movie. Since the location is quite far, you run out of gas and stop by a gasoline station to pump some liquid. "Wait here." You told Lana as you're waiting for the tank to fill up then proceed to the convenience store in the station.

You return with a paper bag in your arms then you enter the car after finishing to put some gas. "Sorry for taking so long." Lana is patiently waiting while you say your statement and put your seatbelt on.
