Chapter 35 | Give A Little More

A few more days have passed and you keep on doing the same routine as if you're attempting to kill yourself by getting wasted every other night. Your cousin forbids you to go to the club and Bette told Rodney not to let you in anymore.

However, even if they do anything to keep you out of the nightclub, you still get yourself drunk by going into different clubs, bars, or just buying yourself some cans of beer. You don't listen to anyone anymore, even if they told you to stop as you're putting your health to harm.

Now, Monday evening, it bores you because you have nothing else to do and Vince took your motor keys so you won't be going anywhere as he knows that you don't ride on public transport. You're currently laying down sideways on his white mid-century sofa while watching a movie.

The doorbell rings while you're munching on popcorn, you reach for the remote to pause the film you are watching then you stride to the front door. "Hey, kiddo." It's a surprise to see Jerry when you pull the door open. 

Your eyes widen and you just hug him out of nowhere. It's been months since the two of you see each other. He just chuckles while patting your back. "Hey, how did you know I was here?" Your teeth are showing up as you are glad to see him.

"I went to the cafe and to the nightclub to ask where you were staying and your cousin told me that you're staying here at his house." He explains his response but your eyes look at the car he's using, it's the same car he was using the first time you two met. "I've heard that you just got into a breakup." 

You're not paying attention to him enough as it made your heartbeat beat fast instead of making you sad, it made you nervous for split second. "Is she here?" The thought of Wilhemina builds your guard up, causing you to step back inside of the house in fear of seeing her. 

Jerry turns his head to the car and laughs lightly. "No, no. But that's also why I'm here, she wants to see you." His statement sends shivers across your body. It's been a while since you saw her yet you still don't want to face her after the bad argument you had. 

You don't want to crawl back to her as she gives you mixed emotions and it might make you feel worse. "What does she want from me?" Your eyebrows are pulled down and anger is slowly assembling.

"She had an accident at the bathroom. The maids told me that she wants to see you." 

His story pulls your eyebrows up, showing a slight shock and concerned expression. It worries you and makes you curious about what happened more. "How is she doing now?" You can't deny it but it piques your attention.

"You might wanna come with me to see." 

With no choice left, you get your jacket and come with Jerry as you want to check on Wilhemina's state. You left Vince a message so he wouldn't worry that you sneak out again. 

When you arrive at her villa, you went straight to her room. A maid told you that she's already asleep so you sneak in just to check if she's alright. The lamp on her bedside table was left open so you went to the other side of her bed to turn it off. 

She seems fine so you thought that she made Jerry lie to you so you could come here. It pisses you off. You finally turn the lamp off but you heard her stir carefully. "(y/n)?" Her hoarse voice whispers out your name. 

"Yes, Miss Venable. It's me." 

You turn the lamp on once again. She lets out a sigh of relief and her face is lit up with a pleased smile. "I'm glad that you're here." She reaches for your covered forearm and holds it tight.

"But I won't be here for too long. I was just planning to check on you." You can't even fix gazes with her as you feel a little odd by this moment. Her smile fades away when you say that you won't stay.
