As you can see, I changed the cover again. It's like a mix between the two other covers, and I really like it.
I'm not really proud of this chapter, but I did the best I could do so there's not much else I can do
Obi-Wan didn't expect to be alone the day Rex got out of the hospital. Anakin didn't show up, surprisingly. Obi-Wan expected him to show up after yesterday's...fight. Fortunately, Jesse was there with him in the room.
"Rex, I'll need you to try to get off the bed and stand up." The clone medic asked politely. "I'll be helping you up too."
Rex nodded readily. He sat up on the bed. He grabbed the medic's hand with his left hand. His right arm was still bandaged and strapped to his shoulder. He slowly stood up, really clinging to the medic's hand.
Obi-Wan and Jesse were both right next to Rex. Their arms were out to catch him if he fell.
"It's okay, Rex." Jesse smiled. "If you lose your arm, you'll match Anakin!"
Rex rolled his eyes. "That's not a good thing."
He took one step. It was a bit shaky, but he managed. Another step was taken.
Obi-Wan instinctively leaned forward to try to be more prepared for if he fell.
"No." Rex refused. "It's okay, I don't need your help."
Obi-Wan stepped away in understanding.
Rex took a few more steps. He was at the door now. He let go of the medic and walked some more. He fell to the ground. Jesse caught him.
"You okay?" Jesse asked.
Rex nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine."
The clone medic went over to the closet and opened it. He took out a long piece of polished wood that had a nice metal handle. It was a cane. The medic took out a cane.
"I thought you might need this for a while." The medic explained. "Why not you try using it?"
Rex looked absolutely heartbroken at the fact that he'd need to use a walking cane, but he grabbed the cane and started walking. He walked around way easier.
"I guess I can use this." Rex sighed unhappily.
"Hey, it's okay." Jesse comforted him. "This won't be forever."
Obi-Wan looked at the clone medic for confirmation of this. The medic looked away.
He doesn't know how long Rex will need the cane. Obi-Wan realized. He looked back at Rex. I should tell him, but he'd lose his hope. Obi-Wan decided not to tell Rex.
"Be sure to sign out, but come back in two weeks for an appointment so we can see how you arm is healing." The clone medic told Rex.
"Okay." Rex said. He began to leave with the help of Jesse.
Once the both of them left, Obi-Wan looked back at the medic. "What's your name?"
"CT-4864, sir." The clone responded.
"No, your name, not your number." Obi-Wan said gently.
"I don't have one." The medic admitted.
"How about Doc?" Obi-Wan suggested.
The medic's entire face lit up. "Doc...I like it!"
Obi-Wan smiled. "Thank you for helping my friend." He left to catch up to Jesse and Rex.
"Hello there." Obi-Wan said as he caught up to the two clones. "Are you signing out now?"
Rex nodded.
After a few minutes of waiting in line, they finally got to the front desk. The clone was the same one from the day before.
"I'd like to check out of this hospital." Rex said.
Obi-Wan ignored the intense glare from the clone at the desk.
"Do you have the paperwork?" The clone asked.
Rex grabbed some papers out of the bag he was holding. "They are right here."
The clone at the desk grabbed them and began scanning them. Finally, he finished. "There you go. You're free to leave. Do you know when you'll be back for the appointment?"
Rex nodded.
"You may go, then." The clone announced.
Rex smiled really big, and walked out of the hospital. When he was outside, he took a deep breath in.
"I missed this fresh air." Rex laughed. "Well, it's Coruscant so it's not that fresh, but you know what I mean. Wait a minute, where's Anakin?"
Obi-Wan hesitated. "I do not know."
"Did something happen?" Jesse asked worriedly.
"We had a fight. I don't know where he went." Obi-Wan replied slightly guiltily.
"What was it about?" Rex demanded.
Obi-Wan really felt guilty now. "He wanted to visit you, but Cody and Jesse already were. I think almost losing you reminded him of losing Ahsoka. I think he got scared that if you died while he wasn't there, it'd be his fault or something. I know he still blames himself for Ahsoka's death. And he is stressed about not knowing what happened to Padme."
Rex nodded along in understanding. "So you don't know where he is at all?"
Obi-Wan shook his head. "Unfortunately not."
"He'll show up eventually." Jesse said. "I don't think we should worry too much."
"I hope you're right." Obi-Wan agreed.
...
The Winter Jedi knew exactly where to look for her target. Darth Sidious told her. The location was familiar to her too, but she had no memory of it. That wasn't important though. Completing the mission was more important. She already failed twice. Failing a third time wasn't an option.
She smiled without reason as she set a bomb outside the diner.
She smiled wider when she set off the bomb.
I technically have the next chapter ready, but it's unedited and I want to make you guys wait. Partly because the next chapter is extremely important and you guys won't like the ending to it
Once again, don't steal or edit this (cover included), the plot is based off of a plot from the MCU. I don't own the characters (or Star Wars) so don't sue me. If you're reading this on Ao3, good, if you're reading this on Wattpad, great. If you're reading the first few chapters on fanfiction.net, then go over to Wattpad cuz I don't update there anymore and this whole thing isn't on Ao3 yet
Have a good day/night or time on an alien planet
