Camila's POV
"Javier! Let's go we are going to be late for our reservation!" I say while fixing my gown in the mirror.
-"Stop it woman, they won't give away my reservation, I'll get there whenever I want."
I sit back with my arms crossed.
Why the hell am I even going. I know he will make me look like crap in front of his friends tonight at dinner. His friends are so intimidating, and they all look at me like I'm some piece of meat.
He walks closer to me, cuffing his gold watch on his wrist.
-"Cheer up Chica, I want a smile for the boys tonight, yeah?"
I fake smile at him, and he speaks, "That's more like it. Now let's go."
The car ride consisted of him taking work calls, and a silence between the driver and I. My eyes scanned out the window, seeing teenage girls walking on the sidewalk, laughing and walking arm in arm. I wish I had that kind of childhood, but sadly we never had that much money to move to the city life.
I get out of the car, and strut to the inside of the 5 Star restaurant on the top level of a imperious building that screamed wealth.
After some time, we are enter the private function area, and I see all the men sitting around the table with all their hunting gazes at me. Javier's hand reaches around and grabs my ass, and I hear the men greet him like the King he thinks he is.
They all practically bow down to him, as he is the boss.
He snaps at the waitress, and she reluctantly comes over to him.
-"How can I help you Sir?"
-"I want 10 bottles of your finest wine. And make it fast will you, I'm not so patient."
She looks at me in hopes of some salvation, and I mouth to her 'I'm sorry' with guilty eyes.
Her body swifts away, and the 10 bottles, along with plate after plate of seafood comes out of the kitchen.
I had zoned out all night, looking out at the night sky as the men try to make subtle advances at me. All but one, he came and sat next to me, he saw that I was clearly uncomfortable.
-"You look like you'd rather be in a graveyard right now."
I smile, "Kiko, you know I'd rather be absolutely anywhere but here"
He gives me sorrowful eyes. Him and I always got along, ever since I met him through Javier. Kiko was one of Javier's men, but always stood out from the rest. He was best fighter in his pack, yet never wanted to be in this drug-infested life. Kiko was a boxer, and always wanted to be only that, however at one of his competition games Javier spotted and decided to adopt him into the cartel. Kiko had no choice, Javier wanted him and that was final.
-"Camila, go up to the bar and get him a drink, I need to talk to you away from here." He whispers to me while nodding his head at the man next to me in deep conversation.
"Baby, I'll go get you a drink." I place my hand on his shoulder.
-"That's my girl." He winks at me.
I get up and make my way over to the bar in an adjacent room. Kiko follows.
-"Camila, what are you still doing with him?"
"Kiko, you know I can't leave. We have a child together, I can't just leave."
-"He is everything that should make you turn the other way."
"You have no idea Kiko, I have nothing. How am I supposed to go when I have no money? He won't give me anything, unless I am by his side."
-"I can't stand seeing you and Mateo in this kind of danger Camila.Take this."
I look down at the wad of cash Kiko pulled out of his coat. I stare at him with wide eyes.
"I cannot accept this."
He places his hand on mine, "Camila. Listen to me. Take this money, and get Mateo away from him."
I start to tear up, "Where do I go Kiko?"
-"Go where your heart desires, anywhere but here."
"I'm scared Kiko, what if he comes after us?"
He huffs out, "You know I'll try my best to divert him, but you need to get far, far away. I can't stop the wolf if he picks up a scent. Understand me?"
"Promise you'll make sure Mateo and I are safe."
I hesitates, "I'll try my best Camila."
"No, I need you to promise me. You're the only person I trust Kiko."
-"I promise Camila. But you need to make it quick, I want you to take Mateo by tomorrow morning."
"Okay."
-"Okay. I guess I'll see you round then."
I give him a hug as I let my tears fall on his shoulder.
"Thankyou Kiko. I hope you keep your promise." I feel him breathe out under me.
