Lauren's POV
I walk into the Doctors office and take my place at the head of the table.
I sift through my bag, trying to find my phone, to no success. Shit, left it on my bed.
—"We have a proposal for you Lauren."
I raise my brows, I wasn't expecting them to ask me such thing.
"Interesting. Tell me about it." I nod as I pull out my notepad.
—"My team and I have put together a project that might assist you in the diagnosis of Camila Cabello, along with the other 2 inmates in isolation. It consists of numerous mechanisms that attach to the scalp, fingers and chest area. The mechanisms on the scalp are one of our advanced pieces of technology that reads the brainwaves and electro current of the brain, giving us an understanding of what areas of the brain are activated when answering a question, and the same technique with the other areas monitoring sweat and heartbeat. If we get this insight, it will give us a good indication of how her brain works, and if she is telling the truth, when given a direct question."
I sit back and collectively understand his proposal.
"I like that idea. It will give me an objective perspective of her. Let's start today."
—"Today? Oh-"
"Do you have this project ready to go?"
—"Yes, I didn't expect you to be on guard with this idea so quickly."
"Prepare the machine in one of our interview rooms here at the Prison."
—"Thanks Jauregui, we'll have it ready in the next half hour."
I smile, then gather my things and leave the room.
I make my way down the dark hallway, the security at the entrance of the dungeon nod and let me through the barricaded iron gates that slam behind me.
I walk past the first 2 cells and stop at hers, and as I go to reach for the black foldout chair, I find a chess piece resting on top of the cushion.
I frown, and wonder how that got there.
My gaze turns to Camila, who sits under the slot to the outside world, smiling at me while playing with her hair with her finger.
"How did this..."
—"Good Morning Jauregui, how was your morning coffee?" She changes the topic while scoping my body. I feel my excited heartbeat once again.
"It was bitter, there wasn't enough sugar." I walk closer to the gate that separates us.
She gets up and leans against the gate, then slowly pulling out a sugar cube from her pocket and putting in her mouth as her eyes devour mine.
—"Bummer."
Ugh. I bite my lip as I stare at the plump ones looking at me. She licks her lips and I bite my lip harder.
I shake my head, and force myself to break my eyes away. I gain the security's attention with a quick whistle, urging them to open the door to her cell. After I hear the buzz I walk into her cell, and she only turns her body in my direction. Her cell is so small, once I enter our bodies were already too close in proximity.
—"Hi."
"Hi." I gulp after.
—"You wanted some sugar?" She casually pulls out another sugar cube from her pocket, and I chuckle.
"I wanted to propose something to you."
Her eyes widen, and then she smirks, "So soon Jauregui?"
