“Why didn’t you let me beat his face in?!” Cody huffed, pacing back and forth in front of the door to the café I’d dragged him toward. He put his hands on his head, a long string of profanities coming through his lips.
“May needs to deal with it.” I shrugged. As much as I was angry at my so-called best friend for cheating on one of my new best friends, my motto was always ‘innocent until proven guilty.’ Even though I saw him with her, maybe he had a reason?
Even my excuses to myself weren’t very good.
“How can you be so blasé about this?!” He threw his hands up before leaning against the wall and sinking down to sit on the deck.
“Benefit of the doubt?” I tried noncommittally, shrugging my shoulders.
“She’s my sister!”
“That may be. But it’s none of our business.” I held my hand out to help him up. “How about we get some food into you while we wait for the verdict.” He sighed, but nodded and took my hand.
“Thanks, Bree.” Cody smiled, pecking my on the lips before pulling the door open for me to go through.
We both stared at my cell ringing across the glass tabletop, Blaine’s name blinking on the screen. Cody’s was doing the same, but with May.
“Let’s go outside.” I suggested, having already paid with my student food card. He agreed enthusiastically, nearly bolting out the door and receiving a few looks from the other customers.
“Hello?” I answered, hearing Cody repeat the same thing in the background.
“I swear I didn’t cheat!” He practically yelled down the phone.
“I saw you.”
“Saw me what?! I didn’t do anything.” I rolled my eyes and sent him one of the pictures I’d snapped of the scene.
“That’s not me!” He assured me.
“How am I supposed to believe you?” I rolled my eyes. I was seriously getting tired of Blaine’s antics. He was a completely different person since we’d started the cruise, and the new Blaine I was seeing was not one I would want May with if it were my decision.
“Because…” His voice got smaller, and he knew he was beaten. Having gotten my answer, I hit the end button on my phone, shoving it into my bag and heading over to Cody.
“Alright, May, if that’s how you─yes, alright, bye.” Cody hung up and turned to me. “May seems to believe his story.” His eyes were glinting and I could tell the whole situation was making him beyond angry.
“It’s total bullshit.” I sighed, pressing a hand to my head. How did I end up being dragged onto the most dramatic ship ever?
“He better hide.” Cody said in reply.
I took a deep breath before I opened the door to my room. I knew Blaine was in there, and I knew I would have to face him.
I shoved open the door, ignoring where Blaine sat at his desk with his head in his hands, heading straight into the bathroom.
‘I can’t do this’ I texted Cody as I leant against the bathroom sink.
His reply was useless. ‘I’ll hit him for ya’
I groaned, and left my cell on the counter when I went to go to bed.
“Bree,” Blaine tried, but I ignored him, pulling back the covers to get into bed.
“Damn it! Don’t fucking ignore me!” Blaine growled, grabbing my wrist and pulling me so I was standing.
“Get off me!” I shrieked, struggling against him. His eyes were flashing angrily, hot breath in my face.
