The sound of the water lapping the shore was soothing. The sun was sinking, and the warmth of the day dissipated. The sand between her toes and fingers was soft, and the memories attached to such a place, had a gentle smile gracing her lips. When the sky in front of her eyes turned into a watercolor like painting, she remembered her best beach memory.

The way the man she loved looked as she walked to him. His doe eyes shining as he grinned from ear to ear. There was nothing quite like Jeon Jungkook with a full on smile. The way his hands held onto hers, pulling her closer. The words they spoke to the man who performed the wedding ceremony were faded, but his vows rang in her mind like a bell.

"I promise to love only you for the rest of my days, and I will protect you with everything I have. You make me whole Sophia, and without you, I am not even half the man I want to be."

The tears that slid down her cheeks now were plentiful, but her smile didn't fade. How could she do anything but smile remembering that day? All of their closest friends were there to support them, and the 2 beautiful children they had created together, were giggling as they built Sandcastles. It was a relaxed, simple wedding, and everything they'd ever wanted.

It didn't matter that he was in ripped blue jeans, and she only wore a plain white dress. All that mattered was the love they shared, and professing it to one another. When they had finished with their promises, and been given permission to kiss, the world stopped. The cheers of their friends was like a roar to her ears as he held her face tightly and poured all his affection into the joining of their mouths. Toe-curling... She remembered that...

"Eomma? Why are you sitting here all alone?"

The sound of her daughter's voice, brought her back to the present as she hastily wiped her tears and turned to see her sitting down on the sand. She met the concerned eyes of her 1st child, and offered a smile to not have her worry.

"I was just enjoying the sunset... Why aren't you with the others?"

Olivia leaned her body against her mother's shoulder, and turned to the ocean before saying anything. She knew that her daughter was thinking similar thoughts to her own, but she didn't pressure her.

"The uncles took Yeonjun with them to 'have a chat' or something. Why do they insist on embarrassing me Eomma?"

A giggle at her daughter's frustrated huff was heard, and then an arm wrapped around the younger, pulling her closer.

"They love you so much... Of course they want to make sure your fiancée is worthy. Don't be upset... They won't feed him to the sharks."

The 2 women sat in silence after that, and watched the sun sink into the ocean. When there was only a sliver left, her heart pounded painfully in her chest, thundering at the memories that threatened to drown her. She was dizzy with the feeling, and clutched onto her daughter tightly.

"Eomma?!? Eomma!! What's happening?"

The scared girl watched as her mother's eyes closed, and she slumped to the sand. Not knowing what to do, she began screaming for her mother to wake up. The sand shook with the heavy footsteps of the group who heard the girl's cries. Before long, 7 men came upon the 2 women. The youngest of them dropped down to hold his fiancée, as she cried for her mother to wake. The other 6 men rushed to their friend, doing everything possible to help.

Approaching the house where some of my best friends live, I take some calming breaths. I don't know how to move forward anymore, and I just need to have them tell me things will be alright. Nothing will be, of course... Not anymore... A tear slips, and I wipe it away harshly, not wanting to give in to the sadness that's threatening to steal my sanity. The tears are stubborn though, and they continue as I rest my head on the steering wheel, trying to calm myself.
