Chapter 23

(first pov)

"I've had to fight our kind before" Jasper said moving around Eliot and Esme to grab a duffle bag.

"hard to kill but not impossible" Emmett said looking up at me.

"I don't relish killing another creature, even a sadistic one like James" Carlisle sighed then looked at me. Eliot sighed and looked at his brother. You could tell his patients were very short now. "Well your gonna have too because he's after our family and your girl"

Carlisle sighed and looked at his brother with rage. "You don't think I don't know that?"  Eliot stood his ground and got in his younger brother's face. The two are opposites and that obviously caused a staring in the relationship. In the months that I've known the both of them I've learned this: they fight like dogs but they'd always work together to keep the family safe.

"Boys" Esma said softly as she pulled her mate away from his brother. I stood by carlisle and grabbed his hand. "You both need to calm down," I said sternly.

"This is insane," Bella stuttered. "You guys can't just put yourselves in danger for us"

Rosalie hopped up on the counter next to me and rolled her eyes. "It's too late now"

"I'll run Bella south while you lead the tracker away," Edward said. "Ed, they'd follow he knows Carlisle and you won't leave the girls" Eliot said. Me and Alice shared a look and she nodded.

"Me and jasper will drive Bella south," Alice said to Edward.

"I'll go too" I said Carlisle slammed the trunk of the car and turned to me shaking his head.

"No,  I want to be there to protect you" I shook my head. "I can hold my own, you and I both know that. I'm going south with Jasper and Alice" his golden eyes held fear as he just shook his head knowing he wasn't going to win the fight.

"Esma, Rose put this on so the tracker can catch their scent," Edward said as he handed Rosalie one of my hoodies and threw Esma one of Bella's jackets.

"What's she to me?" bella asked looking at bella. "She's part of the family now" Carlisle said . rosalie rolled her eyes then looked at me and her eyes softened as slipped the hoodie over her head. "I'm only doing it for ruby"

I grabbed carlisle hand before he could get into the Volvo. He turned to me and placed his hand on my cheek. "stay safe, please" I whispered.

"I promise. Be careful" he kissed my forehead and got into the car. As he drove off I got in the back with Bella and we drove south with Alice and Jasper.
