Chapter Fourty Two- Brighter Than The Moon

(Shadow's POV) [Possible trigger warning]

A soft sheet covers my lower body as I flinch at the lights above me.

Again, I'm waking up *sigh* I seem to be doing a lot of sleeping.

I see Omega standing next to the bed, in scanning mode.

"Omega, wake up" I say.

Omega's eyes make a buzzing sound and then he turns his head slowly towards me.

"AH, IT IS SPLENDID TO SEE YOU AWAKE" he says with a non-existent smile.

I sigh.

"Where are we?" I ask.

Omega points at the seal on the wall.

"Freedom Fighter HQ" it read.

"AFTER ROUGE LEFT, YOU WOULD NOT WAKE UP AFTER FALLING A-SLEEPING.. SLEEPING- WE BROUGHT YOU HERE"
Omega says, malfunctioning a bit.

I slowly get off the bed, my feet touching the cold ground.

A chill blast lingers throughout my feet, though after a couple seconds it stops.

I reach Omega and hold the wires hanging from his helm.

"Did you get injured?" I ask, curiously messing with the wires.

Omega just looks at me.

"Taking that as a yes than.." I sigh.

Omega raises his hand towards me and I flinch back.

I check to see if his claws are anything like my..

My dream..

Omega looks down at me.

"WHY ARE YOU ALARMED BY MY PRESENCE?" He asks.

I shake my head.

"It's nothing Omega. Nothing..."

A two tailed fox walks in.

"Oh! Your awake!" He yells.

I look over at him with an annoyed look.

"I wish I wasn't.." I sigh looking away from him.

Tails scoffs.

"Could you at least be a bit kinder to me?" He asks. "I did save your ass" he growls.

My attention shoots back to him.

"Since when did you hang around me too much?" I ask peeved.

He rolls his eyes.

"It's just been a long day is all... I apologize.." he says, with a bummed voice.

I shake my head and walk towards him.

"Don't apologize..it's fine."

He smiles at me.

I somewhat grin back.

So it turned out that Tails had been working on some upgrades for Omega, which.. is nice of him to do.

Silver is currently getting treated after a fight with Sonic apparently.

Living under a rock for such a long time really keeps important information from reaching you.

Apparently, while Rouge, Omega and I were trapped at G.U.N, Silver found out a way to destroy the security system.

Still don't know how he did it but, I'm grateful I'm not stuck in that hell anymore.

"So what's the last thing you remember Silver?" Tails asks with his tablet close by.

"I didn't get a..a head injury Tails-"

He nods.

" I know, I just wanted to make sure you didn't have any trauma symptoms." He murmurs.

I walk closer to Silver.

"So what exactly happened?" I ask, easing up to Silver.

He looks up to me, hesitant to answer, but finally spits out a few words.

"Blaze and..and I- were trying to d-discover some things about Zovaal and his Plans." He says stumbling over his words a bit.

I look at his wrists.

"Where are your warp rings?" I ask.

"I haven't gotten the-there yet" he sighs.

I shrug.

"It's easier to just show you honestly..." he says, with somewhat of a aching cough.

"Show me?" I ask.

He tells me to come closer with the motion of his hand; placing it onto my forehead.

Visions of a desolate plain of ruined buildings, cries of pain, agony.. sadness.. all shower my thoughts at once.

Then a block of cement, cracked open, revealing a book, coated with leather.

Then moments later, hatred, as a the sight of a ebony blue hedgehog approaches, also built with hatred.

Hatred and sadness was the only two traits I felt for the majority of that time.

Sadness.. like my own.

Silver releases his hand from my forehead while I sit there, in complete shock.

"S-Sonic?" I ask.

"Yeah, we've completely lost him to the darkness.." Silver hints with grief.

I look away and slam my fist into a table behind me.

A picture falls to the floor and my vision blurs to see it.

Both Silver and Tails look over at me.

I go to the picture and pick it up.

Rose sits in the frame with Sonic behind her.

Her glowing green eyes look at me.

Her smile brighter than the moon.

It made me want to smile back...

I press my finger against the glass.

"I will save you Rose.."

"I Promise you this.."
