Nyla's POV:
Later That Night
"Hey wake up!" I shot up from my desk rubbing my eyes open, "Phoenix I told you there are other ways to wake people up, and yelling at them is not one of them." I groan blinking a few times to adjust to the light, "Well you should probably stop sleeping at your desk then, you know can go home right?" He leans down planting his hands on my desk.
"I know but chief needed me to do complete something so I did and I was too tired to get up and leave." I yawn, "Well good thing you're here because there's a case come on let's go." He drums my desk and I slowly stand up.
"So what did you dream about?" He asks as I use the desk to push me up, "Dream, no. Nightmare yes, the same one." I rub my eyes hard enough to see random white dots in my vision. "I'm sorry." He apologizes for something he didn't do, it's not his fault that we happened to see the horrific scene that it's scary enough to make Satan hide and cry.
I follow the dirty blonde out of the office area and we head to our inventory, "There's a case at midnight?" I question staring at the clock that's moving incredibly slow, "Yeah, the cops were called and they couldn't catch the killer so they reached out to us because the deaths are unusual." He hands me a dark blue jacket with 'FBI' written on the back.
"How many dead?" I ask putting it on and I grab a pistol off the wall. "I don't know, Chief just called to meet us at the Kirk business tower." He explains and we leave the inventory room.
At least there's something to do tonight, "Did you leave?" I ask him as we get into his car, "Yeah, I went home to make sure my wife and daughter making sure they're sleeping then I got the message from Chief. They miss you though, Kelsey really misses her godmother." He chuckles.
"Okay my four-year-old goddaughter has watched cinderella too many times and now she thinks I can turn a pumpkin into a carriage but she wants to wait for thanksgiving because that's pumpkin season." I remember the very exaggerated conversation with his daughter who I adore with all of my heart.
"Well maybe you can come over some time you know Diane has no problem with you sleeping on our couch, in fact, I think she wouldn't mind if you moved in she knows how lonely you can be in your apartment." He pats my shoulder as I look at the large golden building.
"I'm good with my apartment, it was just that one time where she caught me in a depressive episode, that case did a number on me." I sigh, that one case still haunts me.
"I told her not to bother you but you know Diane she's persistent with the ones she cares about but come on the forensic team is already there." We both get out of his car and I look around seeing multiple cop cars, swat trucks, ambulances, and firetrucks. This is bad.
We walk towards the entrance and a man in all black is being questioned, we make out way through the multiple officers on duty up to the elevator, "Top floor?" I question the button that Phoenix pressed, "That's what Chief said." He shrugs.
Once we reached the floor we were immediately introduced to yellow police tape and bright flashing lights, "This is a very warm welcome." Phoenix looks down and so do I, blood already, never a good sign.
"Cheif?" I call out for the man and he turns around delighted to see us, "Agent Whitlock and Agent Hill, hello. I appreciate you two being here on such short notice but this is big, we don't have much information on the victims but it's getting worked on, I want you two to take a look and gather what you can, we'll talk once you're done." He leaves us at that and I look at my partner.
