_____________
Amelia's POV:
"Don't say anything to the rest of the girls, they don't need the truth yet . If the FBI comes around again I'll be the one to talk to everyone so they don't go into a frenzy about their jobs. This fucking sucks." Buck lights another cigarette while we just sit behind Louzy Lounge.
I haven't been really able to think since we got back from the Bureau and honestly, I don't want to go back there at all. "What are we going to do about Lauren, her clients, her family?" I ask hugging my knees bringing them close to my chest.
"I don't know, I have her dad's number saved somewhere but I think the FBI handle the deaths, if anything I'm sure her family knows already and we don't tell clients if someone is there or not but you were there baby, was there nothing suspicious?" She asks and I shake my head.
"No just men with boners but that isn't anything new and even so, her client Marcus, he seemed genuine and actually into her." I whisper turning to look at her and her eyes cut to me as she puffs a could of smoke.
"You two girls have been with me for years. I was serious about hurting anyone who hurts my girls, the agent who was questioning me was a bitch, never have I wanted to hit a man so hard but he reassured me that we're just suspects and nothing will happen with us because they don't even know where this case will go." She explains flicking the orange butt.
"You should go, mourne. I know I will." She shakes her head but I couldn't agree with her. "I don't think mourning will do me any good, first I get dumped over my job then a friend of mine dies the last night that I saw her." I stretch my legs out scooting back to lean on the wall.
"Well you ain't workin' that I'm demanding of you. Go out, live a life outside of dancing and having sex and after what you went through today. You deserve it go on, I'm gonna try to act like everything is fine for the rest of girls. Come back when you're ready." She kisses the side of my head and disappears into the building.
I looked up at the sky seeing it's regular light blue with streaks from planes, Mason likes to say that Iron Man flew over or it's Iron Man in the sky, I don't correct him at all, sometimes I'm even convinced that it is.
I don't usually drive in silence but this time I did, I couldn't listen to anything but the voices of my thoughts as I try to figure out what's going to happen now that Lauren is gone, she would've gone beserk if I told her that Josiah dumped me and she would've gone all Harley Quinn if I told her what he did.
She probably would've shot him on the spot and after would've let me cry on her shoulder for hours and that's what I like about her, she's found a way to take my problem and get it out of my sight, out of my mind. Then let me be as sad as I want to without trying to pull me out of that state till I was ready.
When I got to the hospital I made my way around into Aurora's office and the people who work there have seen me enough times to not care if I walk around in places I'm not supposed to as long as I sign in they don't care. Gotta love the people here at West Grace hospital.
"Auntie Amelia!" I hear as I open the door to my sister's big office and three little kids run up to me and I crouch down hugging them all. "Oh finally you're here and you're a part of the FBI now." I look up seeing Aurora smile and I smile back. "I am not but we need to talk, something happened and it's the reason why I look like I'm about to do PT." I give her a serious look and she nods slowly.
"Let's talk when I get home, then we can talk about it with Ashton because he's swinging by later tonight." She says and I stand up, "What? No can we talk about it now, Ashton doesn't need to know." I beg but she doesn't take it.
She just raises an eyebrow at me turning around looking at scans of what looks like a fractured arm of an infant. "If it's important then Ashton needs to know and he misses you." She says but I roll my eyes, "If our dear brother misses me then why hasn't he called or texted, he just drops off his kids and doesn't say a thing." I complain.
"You know him, Amelia, he's not going to change but I'm almost done here I just some other input on this child's arm. It's just the way it's fractured doesn't sit right with me." She looks closer and I step forward picking up Mia as I look at the scans. "The kid's arm was caught then pulled and was pulled wrong that's why it looks weird." I tell her and Mia claps for me.
"I see and here I think that you didn't learn anything with your short time at college." She chuckles removing the scans. "I learned something but like I said it just wasn't for me." I kissed Mia's cheek.
"I know I know but go ahead and thank you." She pulls the scans down and I gather the other two boys. "Okay come on let's go do something, say bye to Auntie Aurora." I tell them and we all wave at my sister before leaving the hospital. "How was work Auntie Amelia?" Mason asks me while holding onto the hem of my sweater.
"Work was busy today, very busy and tiring." I tell him, "Did you show them the dance I showed you?" Mia asks me and I nod, "I sure did and they loved it." I say making her cover her mouth smiling.
I couldn't tell them what my real job is so I narrowed it down to just dancing. Which isn't partially wrong, I do dance, just not in front of a crowd or for a competition. "What's wrong Max, you're quiet today." I squeeze his little hand and he looks up at me pointing at his stomach. "I'm hungry." He says looking around, "What are you hungry for?" I ask him but he doesn't answer.
"He wants ice cream." Mia says, "And how do you know that?" I ask knowing what the answer is. "It's a twin thing. Like a superpower." They both cheer and Mason agrees. "They do that a lot." He complains dragging his feet.
"That's okay, all superpowers need practice now let's go get some ice cream." I tell them and we rush to the car, somehow I managed to get a discount on the ice cream which is weird but I think it's because I'm wearing FBI clothes. The kids didn't question what I was wearing, it's not unusual for them to see me wearing comfortable clothes but I can only think about what happened in that cold interrogation room.
It was weird and knowing that there were people on the other side watching me as I answered questions felt violating and what's worse is that I need to go back, it isn't over, Lauren is dead and Marcus he's dead too which hurts more, I don't know if I'm grieving or not, I know she's gone but it hasn't fully hit me.
Josiah has rarely been on my mind since this whole FBI thing started. "So what's up with your clothes?" Ashton asks wiping his mouth with the napkin. He's still dressed from his meeting which isn't a surprise.
"One of the escorts died, we were in the same building, I'm a suspect." I tell him, luckily the kids were already done eating and went off to play so it was just Ashton, me and Aurora. "What the fuck?" He curses dropping his fork.
"Don't cuss." Aurora tells him and he just rolls his eyes, "I'm allowed to did you not hear what just came out of her mouth." He shakes his head, "That still doesn't explain the clothes, so I need contact people?" He wipes his mouth again looking at me and I shrug my shoulders.
"All I know is that they'll come to get me to ask more questions and I'm in these clothes because the agent let me change because I was in my work attire." I explain, "I see, work attire." He says taking another bite.
"I'm sorry, it didn't mean to come out like that but I don't think you should go back to the Bureau." He clears his throat and I just look at him. There's no way that he's telling us not to listen to the government.
"I can't just not go Ashton, I get it that you're powerfully but that's in the world of business that doesn't apply to my situation, I'll go. If they need me I'll go I mean someone killed my friend." I get a stand with my plate and I carry it to the sink.
"Amelia." He follows me with Aurora, "Ashton, money isn't going to fix this." I snap, I know that money fixes problems, it fixes his problems and mine but I have to do something not many people look up to, bouncing to prostitution but after how I've been acting, yeah it is prostitution.
