Amelia's POV:

"Phoenix?" I stand behind him but he doesn't answer, how did he get here? Why is he here? Why now? "Get the fuck out!" His voice echoes in the room sending Josiah running out without a second passing. I run over to Buck and Mariah. "I'll get that son a bitch one day." Buck mutters pulling out a cigarette, she calls Lucy over and they disappear into her office.

"I'm sorry are you okay?" Mariah hugs me and I nod into her shoulder, "I'm okay but what are you doing here?" I ask her and she holds up a Tupperware. "I'd thought I'd bring you lunch as a thank you for taking care of my kids along with some other really important things. But I think you should talk to him first, he's just looking over here." She points behind me.

I see Phoenix stand looking over his gun and I walk over to him. "Phoenix." I call him and he quickly walks up to me holding me the same way that Josiah was. "Are you okay? He didn't hurt you? Fuck Nyla would have my head if you got hurt." He scans my face and I nod to all of his answers. "I'm okay seriously though how did you get here at somewhat the right time?" I ask him leading us to the bar.

"I got a call, well Nyla got a call but she didn't pick up because she's not here." He rubs his face, "What do you mean she's not-" "I mean not here right now, right now she left on her break." He cuts me off. "Mariah is the one who called." I see her by the entrance then looking back at Phoenix.

"Yes she's the one who called. So I came. To be honest though I was going to come here anyway to talk to her." He leans his head on his hand. "Why's that? And she probably wouldn't be here." I tell him, she's only come in here once and that was for, well, something important. "I messed up last night, I said something that upset her but after seeing what I just saw she's probably right about this case." He sighs dropping his head.

The only thing she's mentioned about the case is that she feels like she's overtaking it, did he make her feel that way? There's something else they're both hiding from me. "Anyways, I'm going to let you get back to what you were doing, I'll text you or something if she comes back." He get's up without saying goodbye leaving me without responding to him. 'If' Why is it 'If?'

I rub my eyes then I hear the bar stool swivel, "So what were you two talking about?" I look to my side seeing Mariah and I shrug, "Um, well he was talking about Nyla." I give her my attention and smile appears. "Oh good because that's why I came." She puts the Tupperware in front of me. "Wait I thought it was to bring me lunch because I'm the best babysitter ever." I say sarcastically and I let out an 'oooh' after smelling her amazing curry.

"Oh please, we've been known you're the best babysitter but no seriously. Max was told me that he saw you and Nyla kiss this morning so I just want to know where you two are at?" She explains to me, I knew it was going to come up eventually, the kids tell their parents everything which means Ashton already knows as well.

"Like if you guys don't have a label or anything that's fine but I mean I think it might be clear you like this girl more than you think." She gives me a soft smile. "Is it a bad thing?" I ask making her gasp, "God no, of course not Amelia. After everything I just witnessed and from everything else from your ex it's good you're having romantic feelings again." She reaches over and holds my hands.

"I don't know, I like her I really do but I don't think a relationship is in the works right now. She's busy with her job, the case, probably more and I'm still you know, working too." We went over this, we're both willing to to try and so here we are trying.

"You know what you two need." She leaves me wondering, "Time alone, away from work and lucky for the both of you Thanksgiving is right around the corner so you guys can come to your parents thanksgiving party, you know together." She gives me jazz hands for her idea.
