Nyla's POV:

"Walk the plank! You betrayed us matey and now you'll walk the plank!" I point my imaginary sword towards mason and he starts wailing, "No! Please I'll do anything!!!" He begs standing at the edge of the slide. I'm amazed I fit in this little play thing. I hear Max and Mia laugh behind me and I turn to Max.

"What do you think Captain should he walk the plank?" I ask and he turns around and whispers to Mia then she whispers back to him. They let out a giggle. "Make him walk the plank!" Max yells and Mia let's out a pirates yell.

"You heard the Captain, walk the plank!!" I watch as Mason goes down the slide and the twins celebrate and follow him down the slide as well. "Again!" All three of them yell at me from below but I make a time out sign. "Hold one you guys let me get a drink and then I'll be back." I tell them getting down from the jungle gym and I walk over to Amelia who's sitting on the picnic blanket watching us.

"How's it going matey?" She laughs and I slump my way over laying beside her. "This pirate is tired." I admit cracking open a water bottle, "But they're loads of fun." I tell her and she nods, "They're a bunch on human energy balls. Hopefully they'll get tired soon because it's starting to get a little dark and it's a long ride back to their dads." She lies down with me.

"How far is he?" I ask, "A good three hours." She says and I hum, that is far. "They wanted on of my rooms to be theirs and it's still not ready for them so I can't have them stay overnight." I look down seeing our hands close together. "Something wrong?" I hear her ask and I shake my head, she looks down too and holds my hand. "Better?" She chuckles and I nod. "Much." I let out a satisfied sigh. I can stay here forever honestly, I'm happy in this moment right now. Me and Amelia holding each others hand under the warm sun, even playing Mason and twins was fun.

Phoenix's daughter would love to play with too. I should visit her sometime soon. I think she'll like Amelia too, I hope she does. It's just the way that I feel calmer with her aside from the few scares and I'll have to get over those I really do. She deserves so much, I hope she knows that because she's a hard worker. She's kind, respectful, incredibly beautiful, and she has a knack for drawing cute little things. "I just really like her." I sit up immediately.

Oh shit I said that out loud. Lord Jesus why did I do that? "What did you say?" She asks still holding my hand. "Nothing." I look away pretending to find the the kids as if they're not out in clear sight. "You like me?" She asks but I still don't look at her. I need to breathe, it feels like middle school all over again. I could never admit my feelings.

"Hey look at me." I feel her hand on my face and she turns my head to face her. She's looking at me so clearly it's hard to explain, I'm not nervous but the way she's looking me it feels like I might explode. I squeeze her hand tighter and a smile creeps on her face.

"I do like you, the feelings for you are very much there." I whisper and her thumb strokes my cheek. "That works out for me because I really like you too." She whispers back, "Is it right though?" She asks pulling away along with her hand. "What?" I ask, yes it's right. I think it's right. "I mean the timing, is our timing right, with everything still going on?" She looks away from me and looks at the kids.

She has a point, but truthfully this case shouldn't affect the relationships I get into. I know my job has ruined relationships in the past. With long hours, constant calls, my exes couldn't take it. I don't know if Amelia completely understands that. "I don't think we can time this right because I can't predict how cases go aside from the fact that they will be solved and completed but if we both feel the same then I think there's no harm in trying this between us." I tell her and she smiles.
