It's been day,
after day,
after day.
And with each coming day, my anxiety grows.
What if something affects the chance of me getting the money?
What if my criminal record ruined everything?
It's been three days, including today.
Then I got a phone call.
Ringg...
Ringg..
Ring-"H-Hello?" I stutter, my nerves are getting to me.
"Hello, Y/N. It's Dahlia."
"Yes, of course. Hello, Dahlia," I say after collecting myself.
"I assume you've been expecting my call?"
"Yes, I have."
"They courts have came up with an answer."
At this point, it felt like my heart was literally going to beat out of my chest.
"And..?"
"They've agreed. Considering you are the only living relative and you are legally the wife, you're going to inherit everything he owned."
After hearing that, I felt like I could finally breathe.
"Are you serious??"
"Yes, one-hundred percent."
"Thank you so much, Dahlia. You have no idea how much I've needed this."
"It's not a problem, Y/N. By the end of today or at some point tomorrow, the money will be transferred into your account and all the property paperwork will be mailed to you."
"Okay, thank you again."
"No problem, have a nice evening."
Then the call ended.
I honestly cannot believe this. I got the money. I get to be on my own—maybe. I'll probably—well most likely will have to inform Aaron. Along with bringing up the idea of me having my own place. Hell, I could get my own car. Maybe I'll use some of it, and make an emergency fund for myself?
Who knows. All I know is that I'm financially stable. Who do I share the news with first? Spencer? Derek? Keep it a secret for a day or two? I don't know. I'm sure I'll figure it out soon. I honestly still can't believe it. I mean, it was highly probable that I was going to receive the money anyway.
I take my phone out and click a contact.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Spencer. Are you and Maeve available to meet?"
"I would have to check in with her about it, why?"
