Chapter 24

~Y/N's POV~

On the quinjet back home Bucky sat next to me. My head was laying on his shoulder. I felt different towards him. I felt something different when I thought about him. I felt something different when he talked to me. I don't know what that feeling was though.

"Hey, Bucky?" I asked.

"Hmm?" He hummed. I freaked out a little inside hoping he wasn't asleep.

"Were you asleep?" I asked. I felt him nod. "I didn't mean to wake you up. Go back to sleep."

"No, it's fine. What do you need?" He asked.

"Did you talk to Tony or Bruce before we left?" I asked. Avoiding what I actually wanted to say.

"Yeah, well sort of." He whispered. "They said there was something under the skin and it looked like some type of complicated technology. Dr.Cho was gonna check you out when we get there, but for now, doll. Get some rest, please." He said. Then his soft snores started. But I couldn't fall back asleep. Thoughts and memories just fell through my mind. The good memories I had with my parents. The good memories I have with Nat. The good memories I have with Wanda. The thought about how I feel about Bucky. Soon enough the quinjet finally lands. Bucky jerks up making me jump. "I'm sorry, didn't mean to scare you." I smiled at him. "How are you feeling?" He asked.

"Like a million bucks." I said sarcastically. When the hatch opened Dr. Cho was standing there waiting for us. "Hey, Helen." I said waving to her, Bucky walking behind me. 

"Hey, Y/N." She said back. "You ready?" I nodded.

"I guess I have to be, Tony and Bruce's making me." I said the last part quietly. 

"I heard you. Correction we are worried  about you." I laughed and Helen smiled. 

"I'll take the bags to our rooms." Bucky said and I nodded. When he left I faced Cho.

"What?" I asked.

"I would've thought Nat, Wanda, or even Steve would come back with you. You two hate each other." She said. I shook my head.

"Let's just get this over with." She nodded.

~Bruce's POV~

We ended up in the lab and the med bay. Y/N was in her medical gown waiting for further instructions. 

"You're gonna lay on the table and we're gonna take the handheld x-ray and see if we can get that chip out." I said. "You're muscle's grew around it so it's going to be harder to get out, so we can give you an anest-,"

"No, I don't need that. Just get it out." She said.

"Y/N, you don't need to be brave." Dr. Cho said. 

"I'm not. I just don't see the need for it." She said, Dr. Cho and I both nodded. She layed down on the table as we got started. 

"You need to hold this still while I do this Dr. Banner." Dr. Cho said. 

"I will." I held the x-ray above Y/N's neck while she started. She used the scalpel to cut open the area and Y/N winced the pain. "You regretting the anesthesia?" I asked.

"No." She said. Dr. Cho took the Kelly Forceps and watched the x-ray, carefully making her way in to the chip. "Ow." I could hear sarcasm so I smiled under my mask. She got to the chip and started to pull on it. I heard wince loudly. I let go of the x-ray with one hand and put my hand for her to hold. When she grabbed my hand she was squeezing it. I was confused because it was coming out perfectly fine. When the chip was out there was a big blast.

~Bucky's POV~

I waited for Y/N to be done with the surgery and x-ray. So I put away my things into the room I stay in. I sit down on my bed and take a deep breath. I decided to go downstairs to just get something to drink. When I got down there I grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge. I saw the dishes in left in the sink. I shook my head and started to wash them. I heard a loud bang coming the direction from the med bay. I sprinted towards it. Bruce and Dr. Cho were getting off the ground. 

"Y/N?" I said. I looked around she was trapped under a table. I pushed it off of her and put her on her back. I used my flesh hand to check her pulse. There was nothing. "No." I started CPR. Push, push, push. "Come on." Push, push, push. I stopped and put my hands around the sides of her neck. She jerked and her eyes were instantly open. They were glowing green. She started breathing heavily, gasping for air. Her eyes were back to the bright Y/E/C they were. 

"Bucky?" I nodded, pulled her to my chest and wrapped my arms around her. She was still trying to catch her breath. I pushed her away and held both the sides of her shoulders. 

"Are you okay?" I asked. She nodded.

"I'm tired though." I nodded and looked at Dr. Cho.

"Yeah. Let me stitch you up first." I walked Y/N to her room after they told her she could go. 

"You'll be okay, right?" She nodded. I went to go back downstairs with Dr. Cho and Banner to see what the hell just happened but I felt a hand grab my wrist. 

"Wait." I waited for an answer.

"Yeah?" 

"I-, um-, could you stay?" She stuttered. She didn't even look me in my eyes. I stepped closer to her and I took my finger to lift her chin up so she would. 

"Yeah." I leaned my face in closer to hers. Our lips touched and they glided together for a good few minutes. When I pulled she was smiling. I wrapped my arms around her, picked her off the ground and walked into her room, closing the door shut with my foot.  I layed down on the bed with my arms still around her. 

"Thank you." Was the last thing she said before she fell asleep.
